Sigma Phi Epsilon has over 240,000 initiated members. We were founded on November 1, 1901. This is our centenial year. Chapter wise I think we have over 250 and 20 SEC (Colonies). We are the only fraternity to have chapter in every fifty states.

I was just curious about the BGLO's:
1) how many undergrad chapters do you have?
2) what's your ave. chapter size.

i'm just curious about these things because, 950 chapters is a LOT, and I was wondering how many of those were undergrad, how many were grad, and how many were alum chapters. and correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there some real small chapters? I know you guys don't have intake, rush, or whatever every year, and sometimes, for some chapters, lines are pretty small. is part of the reason you can do this because you don't have houses? i know once chapters get below 25 or so people, it's hard to keep them going, at least as far as the frats i've seen, even though TX has been going for quite some time, with a chapter of about 15 actives. thanks for any answers. the differences between NPHC, NPC, and NIC really interest me.

NPHC chapters on non-HBCU campuses, which seem to be the majority of undergraduate chapters, are typically pretty small. However, HBCU chapters can have lines of 50-200 hence chapters of 200+ members. Most alumnae chapters, which are geographically-based, typically have about 50-300 members. There may even be more that one alumnae chapter in a metro area, each with it's own defined service area. Of course this varies from org to org and location to location.

Also some orgs use the term alumni/ae and others use the term grad which generally mean the same thing.

in no other countries but the USA or Canada there is a "Greek system" except for the cases where greek chapters have been founded on the basis of American fraternities.
However, there are a lot of fraternities and sororities in Europe that have sometimes similar, sometimes different rituals and habits. The roots for these fraternities in Europe date back to the first universities in Bologna, Paris, Prague and Heidelberg even though none can trace its roots as far back as that.
