I don't mind the fact that girls wear fraternity shirts...i actually like it when they do, but when i see a guy who isn't even in your fraternity and probably never even been to community college wearing your letters....i dont even wanna go there.

there was this one girl at my highschool who wore Delta Zeta letters. I think she is legacy there, but I could be wrong. Anyway it was just weird, and it certainly didn't improve her status. Then there were two guys I knew talking about a fraternity party, because another girl we knew was wearing a party shirt that was her sisters or something, and they were talking about how they were there. Everyone said that they would have laughed out of that party in five minutes. hehehe.

To Billy Optimist:
Are you saying that it is wrong that I wear my sister's DG shirts?

Hey TxTechChiO, i go to the university of houston. It is always nice to find someone close to home! So you are a chi o there? I also read that you are part of the Kappa Alpha Order? I am sorry for my ignorance, but what is that? i dont think i have ever heard of it.
Well about my post with that girl wearing a fraternity sweatshirt, i was just commenting on it- and i thought that wasnt allowed. I guess i was wrong, but thank you all for clearing that up!

A couple of years ago, my boyfriend's car was broken into. He had just gotten back from doing my laundry. The thieves left the radio and CD player, but took my basket of clothes which contained MANY of my Delta Zeta shirts, as well as a Kappa Sigma shirt that had belonged to a very good friend that had recently passed away. If I EVER get my hands on the s.o.b.'s that stole my things, they will definitely think twice before laying a finger on someone else's property! To think that some lowlife is out there wearing my letters makes me want to scream!!

For my chapter it was looked down(major disrespect) upon for a lady to wear our letters unless things were really serious. I'm talking marriage. Usually it was when one of the brothers had been dating his girl for a very long time, they were going to be engaged, and the chapter adopted her also. Other than that I havent seen anyone else outside of Beta wear my letters. Now, Homecoming and event shirts are a totally different story.

Forgive my ignornace but, is being a KA Southern Belle basically the same thing as being a Sigma Chi Sweetheart?
And Bucutie02, hopefully my question will in someway answer your's. She isn't a memeber of the order, which is a male organization, but an honourary female member. And if you want to know about Kappa Alpha order, there is a thread somewhere here in Greek Life all about it.

I am not really familiar w/what goes into being a Sigma Chi Sweetheart but, yea, to answer your question, Southern Belles are pretty much Kappa Alpha sweethearts. The title Southern Belle just better represents their history and ideals. We have to be voted in and I am not sure how other Fraternities do it. gphi2k, pretty much summed it up. KA is known as an Order of Southern Gentlemen.
Miami1839: I am not sure what Fraternity you are in but I just wanted to clear things up. KA's don't just give their letters away. It's a big deal to be a Belle and, yea, I guess it basically means the KA's have adopted us. But I just didn't want anyone to think that KA's let just anyone wear their letters.

TO BUCUTIE02:
My boyfriend is from Houston and I love it there! Are you originally from there? What part? I used to attend Texas Tech but now I go to SFA. You've probably heard of SFA since you are so close!

TXTechXO,
I am a Beta Theta Pi Alum. I'm only saying that what the deal was with my chapter. I wasnt really talking about any other Fraternity because that wouldnt be right. I'm sure that the KAs there have their reasons for letting you wear their letters. I was only talking about my chapter.

A couple of my sisters were walking around on campus and saw a girl (who they didn't recognize) wearing Delta Zeta letters. Naturally they assumed that maybe she was a transfer or a student at another university and approached her to intoroduce themselves. They asked if she was a DZ and she looked confused and said no, this is my boyfriend's sweatshirt. My sisters were like, um...ok...and walked away smirking about whether this girl know that this was a sorority sweatshirt....
Also, last year I was at an SAE party and one of my friends was wearing a DZ bid day shirt from the year before. I still don't know how he got a hold of that
