Oy, that's a tough one. Talk to the Panhellenic advisor to see what the policy on this is. If you're missing the first round for a class conflict, you have an excused absence. Some Panhellenics ask chapters to carry these PNMs if the conflict is early in the recruitment process, regardless if the chapter met you or not - but you need to double-check with your campus on that!

Last year sorority recruitment ended on Labor Day. I have no idea why recruitment has been changed to an earlier date.

Classes begin officially this year on August 24th. Years ago classes began in September. Now the academic year has been moved forward. One reason is to have final examinations over before the winter recess.

Panhellenic will try to rearrange your rush schedule so you can go to as many houses as possible. One- your lecture will probably not last the full 2 hours during the first week of school, but even if it does- you only go to 5 houses each day for each Unity Day, so what they might try to do is schedule in more houses during the times you are supposed to have breaks. You might have to go to 8 houses in a row instead of getting breaks, but at least you`ll get to go to all of them. If you truly can't go to all of them, then it is up to the houses on whether or not they ask you back. (I would reccomend making your application very good and attaching an attractive picture to up your chances at least a LITTLE bit). Also, send panhellenic a copy of your class schedule as soon as you have it- the sooner you do the more time they will be able to try to allow you to see as many houses as possible!
