Do you mean the "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King? The song that was also used for that movie of the same title?? That song STILL makes me cry. *oh darling, darling, stand by me...oh, stand by me...*

I've done some more thinking about songs that make my cry:
My Help ~ Bam Crawford
Stand ~ Donnie McClurkin
It Wasn't Easy ~ CeCe Winans
Calvary ~ Richard Smallwood
Healing ~ Richard Smallwood
Jesus You're The Center of my Joy ~ Richmond Smallwood
Holy Thou Art Holy ~ Richard Smallwood
I'm sure there are others; however, most slow and worshipful gospel/contemporary christian song can make me cry...it has to be the anointing behind the people singing it.

yes!
That is the song girl! Just hearing the music at the start of the song makes me tear up, and then he starts singing:
when the night...has come....
Oh lawd, let me quit(tearing up)
That is such a soror song to me.
also a soror song:
count on me by Cece Winans(sp) and Whitney Houston

For those who are frequent posters to GC, you know how much I love music and you know I can cry @ the drop of a hat.
A lot of songs have been mentioned already but I will again have to co-sign on
A. I Miss You by Aaron Hall
B. Missing you -- Set It Off SOundtrack
C. One Sweet Day
D. Fool of Me
E. Something About the Name of Jesus
F. Love Me Today by Zhane
Others that have made me cry:
A. Changed by Tremaine Hawkins -- right after we found out my dad was terminally ill, someone sang tihs at church and I could not stop crying.
B. "BLESSED" "We're blessed in the city, we're blessed in the field. . . Late in the Midnight Hour God's Gonna Turn it Around . . . It's Gonna work put in your favor" -- The time it made me cry was one of my years of teaching and when they sang it the Sunday they did I had had a hellified week with students, parents, and administration and when they sang that last part, I just fell out.
C. THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS -- Yolanda Adams
D. In The Midst of It All -- Yolanda Adams
E. That's Why I Praise You/For Every Mountain by Kurt Carr -- saw it danced and sang at the same time two years ago and since then, that is the IT song for me. After my house was broken into, I bottled up my emotion -- 3 months later I was riding in the car, playing the CD with tihs on it and I just became so open to this song.
F. Saviour More than Life to Me -- Kirk and the Family
G. So Good -- God's Property
H. More Than I can Bear -- God's Property, saw a Praise dance to this once that just struck me all over.
I. I Told The Storm
J. God Is by James Cleveland
K. Intro's Love Me Better
L. Faith's Reasons and You Don't Understand
M. The One I Gave My Heart to by Aaliyah
N. Fine Time by SWV
O. Mary J. Blige's My Life
P. There is this other song they sang at church (well more than one) but this one song said "healing is in his will) -- have no idea who sings it but it just touched me so much.
I agree with whoever said as far as gospel goes if the song has a message and just can touch that part of me that is hurting or can relate to the song.
GANGSTA LEAN was sung by DRS -- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

My List
Songs won't really make me cry, but there is ONE. ONE SONG, that, to this day, will make me shed a tear.
Amazing Grace. They played this at my grandfather's funeral back in 1988, and ever since then, when I hear that song, I think of him. I was so close to him.
Other songs that I could say give me that watery eye feeling:
"Change Gon' Come"--Sam Cooke
"Mama"--B II Men
"Never Felt This Way" (acappella) Brian McKnight
"Fully Committed" (I can't remember who sang it, but I used to hear it every Sunday on the way to church. Hearing it now brings back major memories)
"Missing You" Brandy, Tamia, et. al (I never used to cry at this song, UNTIL I went to a young person's funeral and I heard it)

I concur, but I have to add one more. the title is "God Is." I don't know who sings it but it goes like this:
God is the joy and the stregnth of my life
He moves all pain, misery and strife
He promised to keep me
Never to leave me
He never ever falls short of his word...
There's more but I'll leave it at that. My church choir sang this at a woman from my church's funeral and I bawled like a baby. This was her favorite song.

It is one of my bawling songs as well. IT is sung by the late James Cleveland. I had them sing it at my dad's funeral.
I had forgot "Wind Beneath My wings" -- sung in Beaches.

My tear-jerker is The Storm Is Over Now by God's Property!!!! I heard this song for the first time when I was breaking off a long-term relationship and I didn't think that I could make it. The Lord bought that song to me and showed me that the realtionship was the "storm" and now that it was over I could trust him for the things I used to look for in that BUZZARD! Of course I don't have any hard feelings
