My list of priorities were the same each time.
1. Assurance that the chapter is following the guidelines of the national body to my satisfaction (none are perfect but you can tell whether there is a good faith effort and where arrogance of chapter officers takes hold).
2. Comfort with the meeting atmosphere (repast, welcoming environment, length of meetings)
3. Committees that I would feel comfortable working on (open-minded and inviting committee chairs, meeting times/places, activities I can participate in)
4. Financial considerations (chapter dues, fundraising activities, nickel-and-diming)
But what it boils down to is your individual comfort level. Every chapter is part of your organization but every soror is not comfortable and may not find a home in every chapter.
