That was one of my reasons for joining a sorority as well, but the answer can be viewed as a standard answer for people who are not freshman going through rush (I was one of them). I would suggest sitting down and doing some serious thinking on how you can make the answer more personal. Please do not take what I am saying as rude because I know that the answer is a valid one, but honest answers from the heart that have been thought through are really good.

Ggirl, you are obviously interested in sorority life, so do yourself a favor and promise (yourself) to go all the way through to pref this time. And please, please, forget "reputations". Go through with an open mind and judge each chapter based on what you personally experience. Isn't that the way that you choose your girlfriends and boyfriends? Isn't that the way that you, yourself would like to be judged?

My opinion is that there will be some (hopefully many) chapters that are clear "yes'es", one or more that are clear "no's", and perhaps one or more that are "maybe's." If you are dropped by your "yes'es", then I strongly urge you to give any "maybe's" a chance. Trust me, one of those "maybe's" (a.k.a. "I don't know," "I'm not sure," "I just can't get a handle on this house") may be an excellent fit for you.

I would say that that is an okay answer (and one of the reasons that I did go through recruitment). I also said for leadership experience and volunteer work But you should give the answer that is true to you. Be honest because most of the time they can tell if you're being fake.

hey no i don't think that was rude at all and i think you're totally right because that does sound pretty basic and general. i honestly would have not really thought about saying anything diff, but now i am, so thank you!

and to blue skies, you're right i really am interested! unfortunately one of my biggest issues right now is deciding where to go to school. because unfortunately if i stay here, i do not think i will get into a sorority now, due to what happened in the last 2 rushes. if i went to a new school, i'd get a fresh start with it, but i'm not positive if i want to leave where i am

Some advice:

For now, decide where you want to go to school. If you're going to transfer, don't do it just because you want to be able to get into a sorority. In other words, if you like where you are, don't leave it just because of the sorority factor.
