Hahaha! When I first saw this thread, I thought it was about eating disorders!
A few of my fellow advisors when I was at UW Madison were reminiscing about their time in the house, and they said that the ice machine was always empty in the 80's. They said that this was because the women in the house that would never eat, would wander around with cups full of ice, so they would have something to chew on.
