This is the email I received today:
Colonizing at Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Dear Alumna,
We are excited to announce Pi Beta Phi has been invited to colonize at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Pi Phi submitted extension materials to the MIT extension committee for review. In January, Emily Tarr and I visited the MIT campus. Our visit was very positive and we were extremely impressed with the institute and Greek community. Pi Phi was one of three groups invited to present in April. The other two groups were Delta Delta Delta and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
There are currently five NPC groups on campus: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta and Sigma Kappa. Campus Total is 80. MIT's 154-acre campus is home to over 4,000 undergraduates (45 percent female) and 6,000 graduate students. Founded in 1861, MIT is a world-class independent, coeducational, and privately endowed educational institution. MIT's five schools and one college encompass 34 academic departments, divisions and degree-granting programs as well as numerous interdisciplinary centers, laboratories and programs whose work cuts across traditional departmental boundaries. MIT's undergraduate program ranks seventh and MIT's Sloan School of Management ranks second in the nation at the undergraduate level in the 2008 U.S. News and World Report rankings of national universities. The school of engineering has been ranked first among graduate and undergraduate programs since the magazine first released the results of its survey in 1988. The average sorority GPA was 4.35 (on a 5.0 scale) in spring 2007.
Many of you took time to fill out our extension survey and attend our extension presentation. Thank you for showing your support of Pi Phi in this exciting extension endeavor! Colonizing recruitment for our Massachusetts Gamma chapter will take place in fall 2008. Please join Grand Council in celebrating this wonderful news!
In Pi Phi,

I just learned through MIT's FSILG alum newsletter that Pi Phi will be colonizing at MIT. Congrats, ladies!

Pi Phi is presenting for recolonization at Clemson on Wednesday, November 12. Please wish the colonization team luck and pray for the best. If you are near the Clemson area or know a Pi Phi who is who may attend, I would contact HQ for more info.
