Nachural,
Being a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha but not an OES, I don't know if the substance conflicts with Alpha Kappa Alpha but I imagine that it also requires a time commitment, as does the sorority. Personally, since my priorities are working and spending time with my bfriend and family to cultivate those relationships, for me, the conflict would just be that I don't want to put forth the time to be active in both organizations. The sorority pretty much gives me all that I'm looking for in terms of sisterhood, plus I have two biological sisters and a number of close girlfriends, so for me, it would not be a priority to join another org that also requires my time and money. So for me, the conflict would be time. My great aunt has been a member of OES for probably 30 years and I am hoping that one of her daughters joins because I would like for my family to carry it on (esp since she is so active in her state hierarchy?) b/c it can't be me. A sister gets tired just thinking of all that. Shoot, I like to come home and sit on my behind sometimes! And just look. LOL.
