Badge on Ebay
I was searching Ebay and I found one of our badges. The person says that its an old, rare badge, but it looks pretty much like mine. Here is a Link. The bid is up to $53, so its not that expensive. Good luck!

New Pins on Ebay
Hi Ladies
I was searching the site this morning and there are 2 auctions going for our pins. One is really old with a pyramid back ground. If I could I would buy both of them.
Bye

Hey,
I hope you win all that jewelry....it'd be nice to have a jewelled badge if you already don't have one, and of course getting it away from collectors...
the highbidder on the other badge also recently bought another badge last month, so hopefully it's a dedicated sister....
anyway, good luck...

wow! That's messed up!!!
You are not supposed to ever do that, and I hope that somebody takes action on this. It is unacceptable to sell something that is so cherished on a site where anybody can purchase it! I am truely outraged at this!!!! Where does anybody get the right to take away the respect and dignity that our sorority has accomplished for itself, especially another Phi Sig Chapter.
*I had extra words at the end that I believe I spoke in somewhat of a hastey manner, and so I have removed them. Afterall there is no true way to be sure that the chapter mentioned had been the ones actually selling the pin, and what is really important is trying to see if a Phi Sig can't win that pin back. I apologize for saying shame on you before, afterall, we are all Phi Sigs and we are all sisters for life. Let this be a lesson learned, and lets hope we don't see another Sphinx head pin on e-bay for a long time if ever!*

It may not actually be someone from the chapter who did this... it could be the relative of someone who was a Phi Sig...although it seems it's either a member or an Ex member seeing as how they mentioned the twin ideals.. which are public knowledge... but.. someone who doesnt' know a Phi Sig wouldn't really know that w/ out at least some research

It's a shame to see something like this...Unfortunately I'm broke and can't afford to bid All we can hope is that a Phi Sig wins the bid!

I was thinking the same thing. At least it should "stay in the family."

I agree with Glitter in that it does not have to be someone from the chapter who put the badge up for sale. Remember, Gamma Iota has been around since 1977 and since then I'm sure there have been women from the chapter who have accidently lost their badge (yes yes shame on them but it does happen) or women who have passed away leaving their badges in the hands of family who may not know to return them to Central Office.
Also the site does not say that the chapter placed the badge up for sale, it simply says that the badge comes from that chapter most likely due to the attached chapter guard. So please lets reserve the shame on you's.
Finally while the situation is definitely not a good one, I believe that the best thing to do is to take Lora143s advice and "take action on this" I know that when I checked the site the high bidder was a sister from my undergraduate chapter. While she has since been outbidded, I hope that there are those of us out there who may be able to follow her lead. And to those of you who are thinking "yes great idea in theory, but I'm a broke college student" I'm right there with you, but we all have sisters somewhere around us and a little bit from everybody could work...it's at least worth a try.

HI Tara,
There is part of me that agrees that sisters who can afford it need to take action and purchase the item. The other part of me sees what has happened with KD - I believe they have a group of rescuers that buy them at whatever cost to send back to their National office. The items at times have skyrocketed into the hundreds and a couple of times the thousands of dollars. this just makes sellers go out and deliberately look for the items to post them.
despite this I hope that it is a sister who wins this item.
Carolyn

Contacted National.
Hey Girls. I just wanted you to know that I've contacted national today about this and I'm awaiting a response from them to see if anything can be done to get this item out of the hands of the general public. I'll let you know what they say
LITP,
Linda

Linda,
Thanks for contacting CO. I'm actually curious as to what their official stance is about this.
