1. Great Plains Sauce & Dough Co., Ames, Iowa
2. Zoey's Pizzaria, Marion, Iowa
3. Tomasso's Pizza, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

There are a few places we went to in NYC that were pretty good, but I couldn't tell you what or where they were. And they probably only tasted as good as they did because it was 3 am and we had been out all night.

Dave's Pizza---Homewood
Mellow Mushroom---Southside (it's kinda pricey, and takes a while though)
New York Pizza---Homewood
Totino's----from the freezer section of your local grocery
Papa John's---delivered to your front door

The First Real List of This Thread

1. Totonnos pizzeria, in the Coney Island neighborhood of Brooklyn, is a place where we would get pizza when I was growing up. It has been there since 1924. Best pizza, and the absolute worst table service anywhere.

2. Patsy's on 1st Avenue, in East Harlem. This small Italian enclave has produced some of the most notorious mobsters in American history. The pizza at the original Patsy's, open since 1932, is the best of a group that are Patsy's + Patsy clones.

3. Grimaldi's, in Fulton Ferry, Brooklyn, and in Hoboken, is a Patsy's clone that many argue is better than Patsy's.

4. John's of Bleeker Street, open since 1929, is the best in Greenwich Village. Not as good as the above three, but far better than the best pizza in any other city (except Philly and New Haven.)

5. Two Boots is named after the maps of Italy and Louisiana. This New York Cajun pizza chain is great for something different.

In no particular order:

My Brother's Place - Boston
Pizzeria Regina - Boston's North End
Sabino's - Bristol, CT (maybe the best - owned by an Italian family that cooks EVERYTHING well)
T. Anthony's - Boston
The Upper Crust - Boston/Brookline

Do the Pagliai's of which you all speak have stuffed breadsticks?

The one in BG near campus (Campus Pollyeye's, run by the Pagliai family, who has another pizza place in town) has the most amazing breadsticks EVER.

oooo KillarneyRose you're after my heart. I love Dell's in Bloomfield, not only is their pizza tremendous, but their pasta is to DIE for.

I've never been to that one, but there are three in the DSM area and the two that I've been to are good. Random fact, the owner lives is Iowa City.

2. Zeno's - Marshalltown, IA
3. Deluca's - Lansing, MI
4. Big Tomato Pizza - Des Moines, IA (good drunk pizza)
5. Leroy's - Dyersville, IA

No particular order except for #1.

1. Papa's Pizza (suburbs of Chicago) This pizza seriously rocks.
2. Mother Bears (Bloomington, IN)
3. Giordano's (Chicago and suburbs)
4. Bacci's Pizzeria (Chicago and suburbs)...the slices are ginormous!
5. A little place in NYC right by Ground Zero called Steve's Pizza. I went there for lunch the last time I was in New York. Mmmmm.
