Interesting thought DeltAlum!

LXA has Impact Leaderships that are programed to teach about many facets and especially hazing.

If a chapter is found to be hazing, it cost money from the HQ which means the members to send a ELC there to investigate. If it is found to be true, steps will be taken. If the chapter does not change, they will be suspended, or closed.

For some outsiders (and it appears insiders as well) of Greek Life, a National office instilling a National Program looks like a "fix" for a bad inccident like a hazing situation. And often times whenever National Greek organizations do anything like that they appear as if they are only "reacting" to problems. Which for the majority of Greek life is not the case.

The fact is, many of our Chapters and National Organizations ARE proactive. And in many instances, for many chapters, instituting a national program can still be just as benifitial in other ways, even if they are not guilty of the problems the program can fix. Perhaps it even just re-affirms what they were doing right on their own, which gives them greater support in the system.

It's not as simple as saying "Oh...they're changing the system...it must be broken! Something bad must have happened!". There are many reasons to try and better existing programming...and not all of those reasons are because of negative things like hazing.
