Wizard of Oz 
A kid wanders off on a field trip and his single father must go searching for him. The kid ends up in a dentist's office and must break loose. Runs into some turtles along the way. And the Dad runs into a girl who has no short term memory but is convinced that she can help him find his son. (Hint: All the characters live in the ocean.)

The youngest brother of three brings his fiancee home. His other two brothers fall in love with her. The youngest brother is the first to die, in WWI. Then everybody else dies, the father suffers a debilitating stroke and the middle son ends up fighting a bear in the woods.
