You should check the Alpha Phi forum the thread about the unusual Ahlpha Phi pin. They say Ty Oregon's daugter and mother were Alpha Phi's. lol

Ebay Listings!
I stole this topic off of another forum, but I think they made a good point. On ebay, many times you will find our sorority badge on sale. I think we should do soemthing to stop non-members from buying them. I know I have sat there sometimes outbidding people I know arent Pi phi's just so the badge isnt in their hands. Many of the people who sell these badges are not members themselves and I know a number of my sisters have asked a few to turn them into headquarters. Most of them dont care and are in it for the money. They know that if you get a sister bidding on this pin, they will spend as much as possible to keep it out of the hands of non-members which means mroe money for them. I dont know how many of you go on ebay or would like to help in stopping this, but I know I do it all the time. Sometimes they sell badges on there for as cheap as 9 dollars. Other times they sell them on there for 150 dollars. I talked to headquarters and they said occasionally they have someone on there that tries to buy up as many of the badges they can find. SO if you ever see someone with the name of piphiarchivist on there, then you know that they are workign for headquarters. Well everyone, let me know how you feeel, any ideas, or just whatever.
PPL&M,
Candace

I wish I had the disposable income to be able to to that. If I did, I would pick them up left right and centre. I might even keep one for myself (they are so beautiful ) Unfortunately I don't have the money. Even if I could buy the cheaper ones (like the ones around 9 dollars) with the exchange rate it would be like 1, 000, 000 dollars Canadian (okay I'm slightly exaggerating). But it would be nice if the Pi Phi's could band together and save our pins.

A Very Old Pin
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145
This is a link to a beautiful pi beta phi pin on ebay. I am very curious as to the background of this pin. I have NEVER seen anything like it and I can imagine it is very very old. Anyone with ANY info please let me know as I love to learn the history of these old pins.
Thanks a lot,
MLK

It is the name, chapter and initiation date of the original owner. I'm not sure exactly when badges stopped having names engraved on them... I know some of my friends moms had names on theirs (initiation dates in the 60s) but mine did not... I was initiated in 79
