Yes, my cousin loved his telecommute job in Phoenix. It started as a traditional job with a major financial institution there in processing. He did have to attend one staff meeting a month in person, but other than that he worked at home. He was required to log into the company's system by 9 a.m. in the morning, but could log in anytime after 1 a.m. if he couldn't sleep or woke up early. He was required to process so many transactions prior to the end of the work day. If he processed them all in 5 hours, then he was done for the day. He was paid for 8 hours a day and had benefits. It never took him 8 hours to process his day's allotment.

Update: I got a call from the CEO yesterday - I start Monday! The pay could be better, but having been out of work for so long, it's better than nothing. Once I'm established, it's easy to pick up some (well paying) on call pay, too. It's a short commute, and a somewhat laid back office. I really hope this works out!

Thank you! I have already said that I will either thrive or fail miserably, and I think I will thrive. It's a smaller office, instead of having 15-20 people cutting one's throat all of the time. I'm sure that there will be less internet time, though!
