Are you doing your thesis on hazing?
You might not have a problem being a 24 year old and a grad student - if it weren't for the fact that your posts all make you sound like you're 50.

Right. This guy = total nutjob. Other people should understand that their are other avenues to fraternity membership with different obligations and expectations. I just don't like generalizations.

This post reminds me of my favorite character in one of the series I'm reading. She goes by Aphrodite, and is the girl that everyone loves because they're too scared to hate her.
Yes, totally random, but it's not like the rest of this thread was all that thrilling.

I gave up on them a while ago, I realized I'd read a whole book and nothing happened. I might go back to them later.

Why the hell would a 34 year old ever want to pledge a fraternity (provided the person is referring to NPHC or a non-IFC group)? Mixers and socializing can't be that fun when you're almost double the age of people in your pledge class.

In Greek life, 18-22 is normal. 24 is old.

I've noticed that, too. Actually, to me, it seems like in each book they solve one problem and get themselves into three more. I can accept some of the non-plot movement of the books because 1. They seem to have a clear direction where they're going, and each problem is leading to that end, and will play a role in the ending and 2. There are just so many "lead" characters and sub-plots, it's hard to advance them all at the same time and get anywhere in one book. I do like how they've recently started shifting between different character's POVs. I'd rather read 3rd person, and I like not always following the same person around. It does bug me, though, that they contradict a few concepts that they've earlier introduced, and how Zoey has OMG every single power imaginable and can use her powers to get her out of anything, and still has zero self-confidence.
Yes, this is the kind of crap I read. And I like it.

^^ Also, at the start of the series they're seeing 300 in theaters, by the more recent ones they mention Twitter. Despite the fact that in at least one book all of ... what.. 3 days go bye? Maybe?
