SigKapSweetie = best quote
In all seriousness...AI is for women who have already done a great deal for a sorority (women who have been advisors for 487347987 years) or women who already have a bond or have fostered a bond with a certain sorority's alumnae. It is for women who desire to have an alumnae experience - alumnae chapter meetings, volunteering, advising.
It is NOT for women who didn't rush or got cut from every chapter to get initiated and then show up at the collegiate chapter and say "I'm your ALUM so you HAVE to let me go to the mixer and Greek week with you!! Wheeeeee!!"

Thank you. That's what I was looking for.

Interesting. You say you "always thought about it" but didn't. That's often a red flag for someone who is trying to relive their undergrad years through AI; exactly the type of person AI is NOT for.
However, I'm sure that every NPC gets contacted by women seeking AI, and they know how to choose their members. This particular NPC is interested in you enough to offer you membership in a collegiate chapter.
You say you don't know if you'd fit in. Is this because of life stages (you are a grad student and engaged) or just because of personality? What is the Greek Community like at this university (are they traditional, with only 18-22 year olds, everyone joins as a freshman, or are they nontraditional)? Why did you choose to approach this particular NPC for membership?

At Convention, I was at a workshop called "The Ideal Alumnae Experience." We were talking about things that, as alumnae, we should do more of, and someone raised her hand and said, "Alumnae recruitment and more AI." I about died.

I didn't ask what the letters AI stood for.
My question has already been answered, though.
