I'm so excited for you, johansla! For the rest of your life, you will be a founding member of Theta Omicron chapter of Alpha Delta Pi!! Just think, in years to come, New Member classes will have to memorize your name!! (And what a thrill to share a room with Tammie Pinkston!)

I think we're all going to have a great laugh over new members having to memorize our names--some of our names have wacky spellings, so that ought to be interesting!
And thank you all for the love and support; we're having a great semester and everything is going well here. We are planning for fall recruitment and events for this spring, so we are quickly seeing all the parts and pieces that go into chapter operations!

I was fortunate enough to help initiate sisters of the Theta Omicron chapter. I'm not sure if I initiated Johansla or not (as we had 2 ceremonies going on at a time) but it was an experience that I will NEVER forget!

Tammie is a hoot! She cracks me up!

I used to be so nervous around our Grand Council members, not anymore.

Good evening, ma'am. Logisticly speaking ( and without revealing anything Ritualisticly secret ), is that how larger colonies ( for any organization ) conduct a mass iniation? By dividing into 2 groups ( or more )?

What an exciting story with a wonderful ending! Congratulations, Johnasla!

Honeychile, you mentioned an opal Badge (which sounds stunning). Does your National buy the Badges for new colonies?

The girls are still responsible for purchasing their own badges. They are given "loaners" until theirs come in from Herff Jones.

I believe so. I'm pretty sure when my chapter was recolonized they split the ceremony into 2 or more going on simultanously. I'm sure some chapters do it this way with massive alpha classes. It still took all day (with a 1 hour lunch break) to initiate around 160 women.

I initiated as a Founding Sister of my DG chapter at North Carolina State University. We had 76 colonizing sisters and we did initiation all as one group. It certainly was one of the longer initiations I've attended, but wasn't terrible. And I know some SEC schools (and a handfull of other schools) have pledge classes larger than that on an annual basis. So I imagine large initiations are not that uncommon.
