There was a fraternity who was trying to build up their reputation, so they had "Kiss and Carnation". They sent a bunch of pledges to give each new member (you guessed it!) a kiss and carnation.

Now, fraternities are no longer permitted at Bid Day festivities.

Way back in time, down on the farm, out in the boondocks there were Bid Day parties at every fraternity's house where we danced and sang and drank lots of alcohol (the age for alcohol consumption back then was 18). Sorority actives and pledges walked from house to house for hours in celebration. The next day when I finally ate my first meal at 5 p.m it was ice cream and jello.

Norther Arizona instituted a "super" no-frills recruitment this year. They banned high heels until pref round! Now this is a school that the sororities do not have houses and all chapters recruit from University buildings that are very close together, so it's not like Panhel was trying to save the PNM's feet from miles of walking! I don't get this, I can't believe that NPC would have suggested this rule, nor thought it was worthwhile.

That's an awfully strange rule to instate. I wonder why that was put in place.

A way to try to enforce a more casual dress code maybe?

Or, like, if someone in heels took a header down a flight of stairs last year in one of the chapter spaces. That happened to me once, though thankfully not during rush.
