I mean there are a lot of things that can go on that are improper that one could say is "lack of self-governance" and a lot of things that are improper that are completely and utterly ridiculous for a chapter to do.

I mean, I lived for three years in the chapter house which was dry, but that didn't keep me from doing plenty of underage drinking. And while we moved away from having kegs in my sophomore year, it didn't really impact our social life other than having to fork over a couple extra bucks for a party (which, particularly when I turned 21, I realized was small peanuts compared to going to the bars).

I guess the reason I'm prying is b/c I do believe that MoP is a positive program, and I want to know why so many people are against it. I know that there are a lot of misconceptions, and I know that a bunch of chapters don't "get it" when it comes to MoP...that includes the chapters who are so into MoP that they want to punish chapters who aren't and ruin the fun for everyone. I also know that MoP gets blamed for a lot things that have nothing to do with it. If you have a legitimate beef, and proof that the MoP initiative is to blame, then I'm more than willing to acknowledge that. Cooramoor has given his reasons many times before, the most explicit being unable to see the point. If you are blaming MoP because you want to haze pledges and you want throw a party with 20 kegs and 2000 people with cockfights in the basement within the chapter house, then your issues go much farther than simply MoP. However if the dry rush mandate is putting serious crimp on your ability to get the best guys on your campus (and I'm not talking about the rock star partiers, but the all around top notch guys who will make your chapter better in all areas) then I really do believe that you have a legitmate concern, because in this case the MoP initiative is preventing you from being competitive.

So what is it?
