ok, i've made all the changes relating to the princesses names. and i still cannot believe i didn't know that anastasia isn't a disney princess, but oh well.
last night we got our schedules for the next round, which is skit round. although the maximum number of houses we're allowed to visit during this round is six, they told us that a lot of the times people end up with three or four at this point. so, of course, i was really nervous to open my schedule when my rc handed it to me. but, we i eventually did, i found out that i would be returning to pocahontas, ariel, cinderella, mulan, jasmine, and snow white. i was thrilled to have a full schedule and even more excited when i realized that that schedule included cinderella and mulan! i was a little sad, though not completely surprised, about being cut from belle. for skit round i decided to wear a silver blue knee-length and three quarter sleeve silk dress and black knee-high boots, even though it was still freezing out.
SKIT ROUND
pocahontas- i was really happy that i was going back here. even though i still don't completely expect to end up here in the end, i have so much fun going to this house and visiting with the girls. unfortunately, i did not like the girls i spoke to during this round as much as i did the girls i met the first night. one of the girls made zero effort to keep the conversation going and genuinely seemed as if she did not want to be there. however, their skit was adorable! i really enjoyed it and laughed a lot. when i left pocahontas, i decided that even though i didn't enjoy it as much as i had last time, that i really liked the girls i had met in pocahontas on the first night, and i wanted to give this house another chance.
ariel- i had not been thrilled with this house during open house round. but this time i really enjoyed speaking with the girls. they were all really friendly, and i even ended up finding out that i'm in a class with one of them. i found myself questioning my reasoning for putting this house in my bottom two at the last post office and realized that much of it was purely superficial. their skit was very clever and really funny. though i wasn't sure that i wanted to rank them as one of my top four, i did leave ariel not completely writing them off this time.
cinderella- i am truly in love with cinderella! i talked to a whole new group of girls here today, and i loved every single one of them again. the conversations were very casual and easy, almost as if i was just sitting down chatting with some of my close friends. many of the girls i met the other night came over to greet me as well. their skit was most definitely one of my favorites of the day. the song they sang was very cute and catchy and watching them perform just really made me want to be a cinderella. i left this house in awe, and a little worried about how attached i was getting to cinderella so early on. every single girl i talked to who visited cinderella today is in love with this house.
mulan- i know i just said this about the last house, but i am in love with mulan too! i felt so comfortable here as well. i met a lot of new people and got to spend some time with my friend's friend, who is just really making me feel welcome in mulan. she introduced me to some of her friends in the house, and they were all really really sweet girls as well. the style of the mulan girls matches mine more so than that of any other house. the one drawback about mulan is that there a few girls i know who have legacy in this house, and are therefore guaranteed a bid, who i very much dislike. i do not like the idea of being in a pledge class with them at all. nevertheless, mulan very much impressed me with their skit. it was definitely my other favorite one of the day. these girls just seems so fun and close with one another. i really want to be a mulan. and am a little worried about how much i love this house too. ahhhhh!
jasmine- once again, the girls i met at jasmine were wonderful and sweet. the conversations were really comfortable and not at all boring or generic, as many rush convos tend to be. i feel like i have a lot in common with the girls of jasmine, and i would love to hang out with them, be friends with them, and maybe even be their sister. their skit did not impress me that much though. i really didn't find it that funny. for a second it had me doubting how much i like jasmine, but it is the girls not the skit that make up the house, after all. i really hope i come back here next round.
snow white- i was exhausted by the time i got to this house. as horrible as it sounds, i could not make myself try my hardest here. the girls were nice enough, and i did have some really good interesting conversations. their skit wasn't bad either. but, nothing about this house really stood out to be. i just can't see myself really being a snow white. so, this house went to the bottom of my list after today.
at the end of the night we had another post office ranking and my list went as follows:
1.cinderella
1.mulan
1.pocahontas
1.jasmine
2.ariel
3.snow white
tomorrow night we get our schedules and then monday is philanthropy round. i'm really nervous about losing either cinderella or mulan, but all i can do now is wait and try not to stress out about it too much. wish me luck!

Mmmmmm. Not so much. No one is guaranteed anything. Legacies are released all the time. So don't let that be the guiding point in your thought process. Make the decision for YOU and how you fit with the women you meet.
Sounds like you are having fun! Good luck with the rest of your recruitment!

Yeah, I wanted to second the thing about legacies not necessarily getting a bid. Plus, they may not click with the chapter at that school even though their mom/sister/grandmother was an XYZ at a different school. It's not a guarantee, so don't worry!

Based on your descriptions, it sounds like you'd be happy to return to any of the chapters.
Also, about the legacy thing at Mulan, no, they are not guaranteed bids, but even if the Mulan legacies that you don't like DO end up there, don't discount the chapter because of your potential pledge class if you like everything else about Mulan.
Good luck with tomorrow's invites!

We encourage the PNMs to be honest, but discreet, when posting rush stories. True, it doesn't take a genius to figure out which sorority is which if you're familiar with the campus Panhellenic (made clear in NLH's rush thread), but I just think it's unnecessary to let everybody know that YOU KNOW what school she's at. I think it's better if we just kept that knowledge to ourselves.

COSIGN! That's why I wrote the note I did on my niece's story. BlueGBI you can have a cookie if you really want....

Love your thread! About the legacies, though: violetpretty is right. There may be someone in your pledge class that you may not care for, but the bottom line is, there may be 50 more who you love! Try to not cut a chapter on what might or might not happen!
Best of luck with tomorrow's invitations.

This fall when I rushed, Zeta cut 6 legacies! And our pledges classes aren't extremely big. Zeta had 29, I believe and we had 30.

Being a legacy doesn't neccessarily guarantee these girls a bid to Mulan.

It also doesn't guarantee that they want to be in "Mulan" either

i just want to clear up the legacy thing. one of my good friends, who also has legacy at mulan and another sorority, was told that she has a guarantee of getting a bid there. as far as whether or not the two girls i was referring to want to be in mulan, i do know that it is currently their first choice.

you can tell your friend that she just experienced "Bid Promising" and that is against the rules. please tell her that we ladies who have been around the block more than once have seen too many times when a sorority member promised a bid to a pnm, the pnm believed the girl and suicided that chapter, only to be bidless on bid day. no one member can guarantee that anyone will receive a bid-even if they are the chapter president!
i wanted to say something about jasmine-you noticed that their skit was not on the same level as some of the other chapters. maybe you could use that observation to your advantage. if you are invited back to and choose to attend the next jasmine party, you could diplomatically mention that you enjoy acting and look forward to being able to participate in skits when you join a sorority. you just might be what jasmine is looking for!

At my dughters school, where legacies are honored, they supposely cut legacies if they are not going to offer them a bid after slide show day (2 day) I know this happened to several of the daughters friends. Some did not want to be in the mother sorority and were glad they cut them early on so they could 'voulenteer' that information to other groups they were interested in . Another reason I think legacies are honored their is national sororities have only been at the school 30 years. The last few years they could only have in-house leagcies so it was a big deal.

I know at my school unless you don't like the legacy or vice versa, you bid them. (Although this isn't something that we go and say to them during recruitment). We don't get a lot of legacies and are very appreciative when we can get some. This year we took every single one, and stole one from another group as well. Another chapter on my campus also took all of theirs as well. The majority of the legacies of the other chapter's also went to their respective legacy chapters.
Obviously this is not the standard at every school, and at some schools this simply can not be done, there are too many legacies. But thankfully it's something we're able to do and I think it's very cute. I suspect there are other schools as well who are also able to do it, which may be why the legacies in this story seem so confident. (I do agree though, if someone told them they were guaranteed a bid, there is foul play afoot.)
