Justamom..

I know of about 10 girls entire situations.. meaning what their resumes looked like, how many recs they got, personalities, and how conversations went during rounds. Some got a fair amount of invites back throughout, but others weren't so fortunate. And to say that it was a reflection of their "situation".. I couldn't really tell you! It was confusing to me..I'm sure I'll understand more about it next year.

How many girls usually pledge from your area?

I'd like to say that cuts were harsh this year, but I don't know anything about previous years to compare it to.

party pics update..

They managed to send me a bill for bid day pics, but still have yet to answer my question about the password situation. ugh..

We did not fare too well this year. USUALLY, we have more girls get pledged, but as it is now,
dg-1
kkg-1
kd-2
xo-1.

That's IT! I am so sad, from the current info, they were cut pretty hard. I am at a loss because of the number of legacies...OH MY GOSH, I just realized one of our legacies was cut! Her mother was the PRES of our Pan Hell for a few years!!! Maybe it's due to the higher SAT requirements. I JUST DON'T KNOW!!! Ames, Moxie, were the cuts that bad this year? What in the heck happened. We USUALLY have a MUCH better showing than this. Retention hasn't been all that great from our area, but we ALWAYS had mpre pledges!!!
Okay, I'm confused!!! What school had only 5 girls pledging?!? Please tell me that I'm reading this wrong!!!

honeychile , I am SO sorry I wasn't clear...that WOULD be a heart stopper wouldn't it!!!

Kind of funny though!

I guess the rush infractions were really flying this year...all the way from doors opened a few seconds too long, trinkets escaping the houses, to some rather major ones.

My daughter said this is Panhellenic's major fundraiser for the year! ...lol

My first reaction was, oh, 100, 200, 500... then I realized that couldn't be right either!

As much as I really, really hate rush infractions, the concept of them being a fundraiser is hilarious!

JAM, of course don't identify the houses, but what kind of rush infractions are you talking about? Bid promising? Trash-talking other houses? Why would rush infractions like that make the cuts harsher?

I think almost every house has promised bids during pref night this year.. everyone was talking about it and 2/3 houses I preffed with promised me a bid. I just didn't care to report them and make an issue of it.. did any say anything about it?

I know some parties were slightly off schedule.. but that's the max that I heard of.

I'm confused? Was the wet-in-wild party done inside? Wouldn't that be really bad for the house? lol Sorry just really confused, JAM Ames...?

Yeah but in most of the fraternity houses, the informal common areas of the first floor are either cement or tile. Clean up usually involves just a hose pipe. Allthough, I have heard rumors that sometimes they use soap.

IvySpice , No, as far as I knoe, no affect on rush numbers. Just making 2 seperate comment about rush. Dang I need to stop thinking in shorthand!!!

Ames described it pretty good, but there were a couple of serious bid promises made...more so than what my daughter went through. Anyway, you know whenever GC discusses dirty rush, we all kind of tend to agree there isn't much anyone can do about it? Conjecture-Maybe some of the sororities are taking the
attitude,"If you can't beat them, join them." She's a Junior now and her attitude has changed to the point where she really doesn't talk too much about what goes on. She doesn't care about anything except what happens in DG land. Then, you know she really can't share too much of that. I haven't run into any Moms from this year, so I'm out of it as well. I won't get any inside scoops till next month at a meeting I attend. BAH!

I'm glad I have a son, because I'm getting a whole different perspective on all the GLOs this year. Funny stuff!
