Coming out of hibernation to say...yippee! And congratulations to your daughter, my new sister.

(Have had a long, rough summer, but I couldn't resist browsing a little tonight to see how the recruitment threads were going. It made my night to see that at least one of the girls in this thread went Alpha Gam.)

congratulations to all the sororities and their new members, and thanks to the moms and dads who shared their daughters stories with us.

to cluelessmom, one thing i don't think anyone mentioned, but could have been a possibility, is that unbeknownst to you or your daughter, women you both know may have sent in recommendations for her. it wouldn't be the first time we gcers have heard of it happening.

i guess that on an extremely rare occasion at uga, a lucky pnm might receive a bid without the benefit of a rec. i just want to make sure that, just as pnms should maximize their chances for a bid by accepting the maximum number of invitations each round, they should maximize their chances by securing recommendations before hand.

But by dropping out, she also hurt her chances at a snap bid. If she would have gotten as far as prefs and still not matched, she would have been eligible for a snap bid. Since she dropped, the chapters probably assumed she wasn't interested in membership. Hopefully there will be some COB options for her.

Very true.

If she liked the one group she had left, she should have stuck with it through prefs. (Even if she had mixed feelings about it, going to pref could have helped her make a decision...even if that decision was to not sign a bid card.)

At a competitive school, I'd imagine its an exceptionally rare situation where dropping out of rush completely would still lead to a bid on Bid Day.

Hopefully things work out for her through COB. (If she's interested in any of the groups who will be participating, of course.)

(Those of you who have seen my retro recruitment thread know that I dropped out of rush and ended up with bid options soon afterwards, BUT...my campus wasn't super competitive and I did not get to participate in Bid Day. Even at my non-competitive campus, it would be exceptionally rare for someone to drop out and still participate in Bid Day.)

My daughter has finished rush at UGA. She pledged Pi Beta Phi and is very happy. Another friend also pledged Pi Phi, another Alpha Gam, and ADPi. They are all thrilled and feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful rush experience. After reading all the unhappy stories I feel blessed that my daughter and her friends have found a home,

flower3,
Do you have any idea what quota was? Have you heard how the houses did as far as numbers of girls who accepted bids? Any information you have would be appreciated.

Quota was 52

then there were quota additions, which is where you may have heard 55.

I am still trying to find out overall numbers. All i have heard are rumors and I'm not going there.
