As the Olympics are coming to a close I am extremely looking forward to the closing ceremonies. I don't usually get this excited about it, but this will be a unique experience for me and anyone from Vancouver (Whistler and Greater Vancouver), as our city will be showcased as the torch is passed on to Vancouver 2010!

It said in the morning paper that Sasha Cohen was so sure that she didn't medal that she changed into her street clothes. Once she saw that she probably would (she expected bronze), she had to rush back into her costume for the medal stand!

I love Midori Ito. She was always so classy & beautiful to watch skate. She's just amazing! I was thrilled when they showed clips of her from the past & holding up the flag.

It looks like Canada's Own the Podium program is working thus far: The goal is for a top 3 finish in Torino - which should happen unless the Austrians snag some medals in cross country tomorrow; and then on to a first place finish in Vancouver in 2010.

Last night I was thinking the same thing. I was cheering for him in the 500m and teared up quite a bit when he won. I never cheer during the Olympics.

Did anyone see the story about the African-American man who helped liberate Italy? I thought it was really fascinating.
I am actually going to be glad the Olympics are over because I have not gotten ANYTHING done since they started.

It was a great story.
Did anyone else think that the closing ceremony was just kind of lacking in direction and drama?
It just didn't seem to have an real point to it.
Maybe it's just me. I'm usually a big Olympics fan, and have helped televise some, but they just didn't excite me at all this time around.

beijing 2008, the usa will definately win more medals.
after looking at the medals, i like the cd-looking shape more and more each time.

I expect the Bejing ceremony to be fantastic -- it is so prestigious to them to get the games in the first place that I think they will go all out -- and with the cultural differences and mysteries, I'll bet they will do some amazing stuff.
As for medals, I would sure like to see more of a "team" spirit, rather than a bunch of athletes holding their skiis up for the camera to protect their endorsements. (<--My editorial comment)
