Anybody on the patch - Did you gain weight? Other side effects?

I'm on the patch, but getting ready to go off it on Monday to try Depo. I didn't have any side effects at all. If the Depo doesn't work the way I like, I'll be going back to the Patch.

I was on the pill for years, Ortho Tri. I would get forgetful so I tried Depo, my hair fell out in chunks. Really. I went back to the pill, then I got tired of that (forgetful) and got on the patch. Been onit for about a year. I love it except it doesn't match my skin color

I love, love, love Depo!!!
I know that it is different for everyone, but I never (and I mean never) got a period while on depo. It was lovely. I know some people (my dad) were worried about it (no period) but the way I was looking at it was that none of the eggs were maturing anyways so it didn't matter. It's not like the eggs were maturing and then being released. None were being released.
I personally would love it we (women) could "shut" our periods off until we are ready to get pregnant and if you never want kids, then bye bye period.
They are annoying and since I'm not a huge tampon fan I hate having to change my entire wardrobe due to my period.

LOL, I've never discussed my periods with my dad.

I know. They need multi-color patches. Hopefully, everything will go well with the Depo. I'm giving it 3 months. If it works, GREAT! If not, back to the patch. I haven't had any trouble with any of the BC I've been on (Ortho, Nuvaring, the patch) so hopefully I'll be just like ASUADPi. Wish me luck!

I know, right?
Other than, "hey, pass me that Tylenol," my father and I have never discussed medications.

My dad and I never really discussed my period. He knew I didn't get them (hello never bought anything while on Depo). He was mostly concerned that I would have problems later on in life, especially since he knows how much I want kids. That is why it was discussed.
I never felt weird discussing stuff like this with my dad. He was concerned for my well being and if I would have problems conceiving later on.
Personally I think it's really sweet that my dad took an interest in the birth control I was using. Like I said, he knows I want kids so he wants to make sure I don't have problems trying to get pregnant. That is really sweet of my dad to be concerned and I'm not even trying to get pregnant.

I was on Marvelon pill for about 5 yrs, then stopped for about 6 months, went back on it for 2 years...and stopped again when i ran out last Feb.
That's it for me. I see no reason to keep polluting my body with something I don't need (I mean, I put enough crap in it as it is!) And although i had no problems on it, i did notice other changes. I'll stick to condoms and if I end up pregnant, so be it! I'm not concerned with ending up a single mother, if that happens....
now in reality that isn't likely to happen since, well, not much goin on here

I was on the patch for about two years and the only thing that I noticed was that the day before I started I would get a massive headache. It was the hide in bed, block out all the lights kind. Everything else was wonderful and I loved not having to remember to take a pill everyday. One thing I figured out after a few moths was where exactly you couldn't put that thing. "Low clothing traffic areas" worked the best, places like the back of the shoulder and sometimes the outside of the thigh. I hated having it anywhere else.
Question - after going off bc, how long does it take to get back a normal period?

I was on the pill for a long time, and my periods were pretty regular since I stopped. It's not clockwork-like as it is on the pill, but it's never a surprise.

I was on bc for 11 years and then decided to stop. After about 4 months my periods became *really* irregular and dangerously long so my doctor and I decided that I should go back on the pill. I have associated health issues though that caused my system to wack out.
It took me about 4 months to stop being regular, I don't know if this is a normal time-frame or simply because I had been on it for so long.

That idea terrifies me. I will definately keep popping those pills religiously until I am married and CERTAIN that I am ready to have children.
For awhile I had the theory that if I got off the pill, I would be less likely to sleep with people... But then I was just frustrated all the freakin time, so I got back on it.... Now I just try to control myself better in certain situations.
I love the pill! It gives me the protection, ease of use, and peace of mind that I really need in my BC. I've tried other things, and always keep coming back to the pill.

I was on depo for about a year+. It took about 3 months to start having periods again after my "time" ran out.
Anyone else allergic to latex? The "only use condoms" comment make me think about.
I discovered that I've developed one, so I'm on a pill, spermicide and a monogomous releationship.
