No the arguement posed was that just as we may listen to radio shows other than those on Black Radio. Other people may have listened to any of the Black shows crying foul and voted this way in spite of talent.

I think what happened is a repeat of the bs that kept happening during season one when the show was fresh-there were people that Simon had rejected but Paula/Randy put through-when it got to the groups of 10's Simon would criticize some of these non-singers and the american public would go crazy and vote through blatantly weak singers. Because of this some very good singers never got the chance to be in the final 10 portion of the competition. Of course the weak singers were voted out in the first couple of weeks-waste of time and opportunity.
The minute Simon said what he said and Jasmine started crying I feared the fix would be in. There are some people who absolutely can't stand Fantasia or Latoya and are still upset that untalented John (Redhead) was voted out...thus the Jasmine pity party started.
I may not watch again-just turn on at the end to see what Fantasia's call in number is and keep voting for her-although with Clive Davis as the guest judge next week it will be interesting to hear what he has to say to the non note hitting bubble gum DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE THERE -Jasmine). Shoot-I hope he gives Latoya a record deal as she sits in the audience!
I'm tired of people saying Latoya's supporters didn't vote for her. Thanks to free calling on my cell I spent two hours-hitting redial (between her & Fantasia) and got busy signals the majority of the time.
To Diana's credit-she has been getting better each week- & I think depending on song choices among the three (Latoya/Fantasia/herself) she did have the potential to upset either of them next week to end up in the final 2. With Jasmine still in the mix I've lost all hope for this show.
Simon as exec producer better take the voting process out of fox's hands or the show will not make it another season.

I pretty much agree with stardusttwin. When Jennifer was voted off, Simon said that this is supposed to be talent competition but obviously, it’s turned into a popularity contest. America loves an underdog, either real or perceived, and they pass them through. Some people may have been bent about TJ & Jay’s comments but overall, I think that it is the underdog thing.
Now, I do like John, but I didn’t vote for him. AI was just not his thing. He reminds me of Harry Connick, Jr. (I’ve been a HUGE Harry fan since we were in high school.) Harry does very well in the jazz, big band and New Orleans funk genres. I think that the first two could be John’s niche.
I did vote for my boy George but I knew that he wasn’t going to last. My prediction is the Degarmo girl to win.

This was my first season and probably my last watching AI. I've watched from the very beginning of this season. I'm truly disgusted by LaToya's being booted off.
Call me a cynic, but perhaps we need to realistically look at what 'is' an American Idol. Who does this person talk like, dress like, and look like? As far as singing abilities, who can I closely relate this person to sounding like?
I ask these questions because I've been on the General Forums of GC regarding this very same topic and have seen that perhaps some of them really can't relate to what we as black people would feel is an 'idol'. Not only were a vast marjority of them very critical about the fact that Ruben beat Clay last year, some of them have totally demonized Fantasia Barino for her looks, the way she talks, etc. Obviously that forum is only a small collection of America- yet one has to wonder is it really a racial issue or is it a matter of 'preference'?

I read on another site that Elton John has offered LaToya a record contract, which is great.

I was livid when LaToya was voted off, but I really liked how she handled herself. She knew that she would receive an record contract, and if she signed with Elton John...Kudos to her. I just hope that Fantasia doesn't get booted out by Jasmine and Diana. They can not sing better than her, and it's just that simple.

I attempted to vote for Fantasia for just about the entire two hours but only got through two times. Maybe that was a good sign.

I couldn't get through to vote for Fantasia, so I don't know what's up with that.
SHE RIPPED IT LAST NIGHT! She better win!

One guess, FeeFee. It can't be the talent, that's for dayum sure. She tore the place up last night, although her attire was about a minute from Hoochieville.
Will someone explain to Randy the difference between a man and a woman? If he ain't calling everybody "dawg" he's calling everybody "dude." I'm like what is this, the olympics?

I know Tony. It's just a shame that folx still think a certain way, that's all. I don't even visit the other forums as much anymore b/c of what's going through their minds.

Co-sign. What I've been reading on GC w/in the last few days has me and and I don't consider myself as sensitive AT ALL, since I grew up hearing crap like that all of the time.
