Yes, I had to deal with a few upset (as in upset enough to cry about it) active members last year because their "rush crush" either was cut or chose not to come back for preference...

My daughter went through recruitment at Bama 2 years ago (loves her sorority). She is "on the other side" for the second time. I'll have to say it's much easier on this side waiting to hear how the week is going! Quick question, we have a hometown girl going through recruitment at Bama that could only attend ice water parties & philanthropy days. Then had to leave. She went to some interviews (?) with execs from all of the sororities at the first of the week. This I didn't really understand... Anyway, does anyone know about this and what it's called? & how will she "finish out" the week? AND---Good luck to all the girls and parents! Relax and stay positive!

Wow, I have never heard of that before. I have, however, heard of an instance of a girl needing to miss round one at an SEC school (due to illness). She had plenty of invites to round two, and I'm assuming the invites were based on glowing recs. She finished recruitment normally. But I don't know how it would work if she had to miss the last two days instead of the first two days!

I will. I'm very intrigued as well! (Btw, she has over a 4.0 weighted and a fabulous resume. Awesome girl. Great with conversation, etc.) Just wondering how she will do her "picks" after skit and pref. Totally understand this may be a very rare case....

UAMomma, we had this happen when I was an active, although not at Alabama. I am trying to remember the situation...I believe that the girl was in her sister's wedding, which had been scheduled since before the rush schedule was released (and the rush schedule ended up being moved a week later that year). Panhel had no problem with her leaving early. I seem to remember that she was considered a "hot" PNM anyway....stellar grades from a nationally known school, a new member of a major campus sports team, and all that. Also I believe she was a legacy for us. So we matched her with some very wise senior actives for the first two rounds, and then they got enough of a feel for her that she made our bid list no problem. But she ended up going with the sorority that had lots of members from her sports team...not surprising. So I guess the moral of the story is that if your girl is a "hot" PNM who has some connections in the houses anyway, then it isn't inconceivable that they would give her lots of special consideration.

Has anyone heard what quota is this year? Also, anyone who knows how they figure quota and is willing to share - I'm listening!
Should be a quiet day today - no cell phones are allowed. We'll be in Tuscaloosa tonight!
Good luck to ALL!!

Quota is based on the number of women signing bid cards so there is no way to tell at this point exactly what it will be. We could probably guess if we knew how many women are attending pref round. They actually figure quota based on which number places the most women so it can float in a range until the final tabulation is done.

Hi,
Let me start by saying, I have searched this site and the UA site for a Rush Schedule. I know I heard or read a 10:00 time for bid day, but I can't find the schedule. I have read about how crowded it will be tomorrow, but does anyone know what time to arrive and a place to start looking for parking If there is a link, just let me know. Thanks Again!

The girls have to be in the stadium by 9:45 bids are distributed at 10 am. Get there early and try and park on one of the side streets on the Tutwiler Dorm side.
