Just heard from a chapter advisor at the University of Colorado, Boulder that a whopping 1450 women have signed up for recruitment which starts tomorrow morning. This seems like a huge increase in numbers without any changes to the recruitment schedule. Whew! I'm exhausted thinking about it.

This is nuts. According to IP's thread only 869 women joined during formal last year. This campus is obviously making massive recruitment cuts or losing huge amounts of pnms. Is this due to the expense of CU sorority life? What is the status of extension here? Would there be room/housing for two sorority colonies?

Yes the growth is crazy. And yes expansion was on the table several years ago but was voted down. CU is a great campus with so much pride and excitement everywhere. Not to mention the beautiful campus. Greek life is growing but in my opinion there is opportunity to work on parity and strengthen Panhellenic spirit. I've heard all chapters are excited about open house tomorrow. Best of luck to every chapter!!!

Do we know how many women signed up for recruitment last year at University of Colorado Boulder? Hoping it is much less than the 1450 women signed up this year. As less than a 60% bid rate is not a great percentage.

Alabama Sigma Delta Tau welcomed 24 new members (counting heads on instagram) in informal recruitment. From my understanding, DZ Alabama only had 112 new members, but that was heard through the grapevine through an alum.

Only and 112 seems like a bit of a disconnect.

When quota is 140, it is not.

I was trying to give you an opportunity to be nice. Pointing out a chapter not making quota by "a lot" is really not cool. State the numbers if you want, but shaming them does nobody any good.

I did not point out the numbers, another person did. You made a comment and I also made a comment. No disrespect meant for the chapter. My experience with recruitment at Alabama with the huge numbers is that it is not uncommon for a historically strong recruiting chapter to miss quota by 20+ members or for another chapter to get 30+ quota additions. RFM makes the numbers crazy some years.

This is kind of out of left field, but aren't the fraternities getting rerecognized by the school this year? Maybe that has something to do with stirring up interest in Greek life.

Yes and no. The university recently formed their own IFC. Two fraternities that are colonizing are charter members of this IFC. All other fraternities will remain in their own IFC, not affiliated with the university. These fraternities currently refuse to join the new IFC. The requirement now for fraternities wanting to colonize at Colorado is that they must join this new university affiliated IFC.
