With the exception of Vandy and UK, all of those teams have been pretty competitive in recent memory. Any attempt to say there is a conference with more talent throughout, is clearly a joke.

Anyway, here's the latest on Reggie Bush.

LSU < Texas
Auburn = Oklahoma
Tennessee = Texas Tech
Alabama = Nebraska
Florida > Iowa State
Georgia > Texas A&M
Ole Miss < Missouri (remember 37-0?)
Arkansas < Oklahoma State
South Carolina < Kansas State
Kentucky < Kansas
Vanderbilt < Baylor
Miss. State = Colorado

I think they are pretty comparable. In fact, the Big 12 looks a lot better on its lower end than the SEC does. I'd take any of the weaker 6 Big 12 teams (except maybe Colorado) over any of the weaker SEC teams.

The top 6 I think are fairly comparable. I think Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech would run with anyone in the SEC, maybe Nebraska and Missouri (we'll soon see, but both have looked very good).

In '05, if you want to compare bowl matchups, the SEC went 3-3 in bowls while the Big 12 went 5-3. I think your case for being better "hands down" is pretty weak really.

When has Mississippi State been competitive? When without a Manning has Ole Miss been competitive?

Yes, people show up to the games. No question about it -- football in the South is huge. The talent level, however, is about the same as everywhere else.

Are you kidding me? That is ridiculous. I would even add Tennessee to my that list. They are consistently one of the most overrated teams in college.

Sorry, but i'd say the top 5 teams in the Big XII could easily compete with the top 5 in the SEC. From what I remember, the SEC isn't producing any more National Championships or BCS bowl berths than any of the other power conferences.

Macallan, you GDI, You know damn well UT (the real one, not that Austin kind) is a powerhouse football team. Please explain how the Big 12 is consistantly competitive beyond UT and Oklahoma.

As for Mississippi St. they played for the SEC championship a few years back.

As for you, Kevin...
I'm not disagreeing, in that other conferences may have better top teams (although I don't agree this year). However, you're comparing teams that are simple not comparable. For example, Auburn is better than Oklahoma. Theres no evidence that Texas is better than LSU. Lets for a moment say that Texas is better than the best team in the SEC (there is no evidence to say this, but I don't mind the assumption). That being said, lets look at the second team you listed, Oklahoma. Its likely that Auburn, LSU, UT, UF, UGA and Alabama could all compete with OU. Simply saying that UGA is better than A&M is misleading, because in reality UGA is probably MUCH better than A&M. UF would absolutely destroy Iowa State. At best, the Big 12 has 4 seriously competitive teams this year, being UT, OU, Nebraska and TT. Meanwhile, the SEC has UT, UF, AU, UGA and LSU who could all feasibly make a BCS game. Alabama is also fairly good, and could likely play with all of the big 12 top 4 with the exception of UT.

This is the way I rank the teams in the Big XII and SEC

1)Texas
2)Oklahoma
3) (tie) Texas Tech
(tie) Nebraska
4) Missouri
5) Iowa State
6)Kansas
7)Texas A&M
8)Oklahoma State
9)Baylor
10)Kansas State
11)Colorado (no one expected CU to be this bad. Pre season I would have put them at 7th in the conference)

SEC
1)Auburn
2)Florida
3)LSU
4)UGA
5)Tennessee
6)Alabama
7)South Carolina
8)Arkansas
9)Kentucky
10)Ole Miss
11)Vandy
12) Miss. St.

The SEC has a huge drop off after the top 6. The top 4 teams are just fantastic though, and would beat every team except Texas more times than not. I think that Tennesee and Alabama are pretty equal to Nebraska and Texas Tech though, and would be some really great games. SC would be able to hang with Mizzou b/c of Spurrier (as they did in the Independence Bowl), but Mizzou, ISU and KU would be able to beat them on any given saturday (would be some really good games though). Keep in mind that Missouri just wailed on Ole Miss last week...not even close. Tennessee while overrated, they were fairly decent before last year's steaming pile.

I don't want to even speculate about the games between the SEC's bottom 4 and the Big 12's bottom 4...those would be some ugly games. I think that CU would be able to beat Miss State.

Of course the key thing in all of those is where the game is played. The only places in the big 12 that rival the SEC as far as atmosphere are Texas, Oklahoma, A&M and Nebraska, the rest suck. Even Vandy better atmosphere than the remaining 8 Big XII schools...

Tonight, the University of Nebraska will return to the national stage and shock the world as the Men of Troy once again are destroyed in spectacular fashion.

Estimates of 30,000 Husker fans will be in attendence, 15,000 of which USC has admitted purchased tickets through official means (4,000 NU allotment, 8,000 NU Zip Codes during online sale, 300+ Season Ticket Sales from NU Zip Codes, etc...)

GO BIG RED!

I can't believe you would call me a GDI. I said the top 4 or 5 would compete with the top 4 or 5 in the SEC. Do I think the entire Big XII Conference would be totally competeitive with the entire SEC? I dunno. There are equally mediocre and bad teams in both.

Tennessee is nothing more than a decent football team, nowhere close to feasibly making a BCS......leave that to Auburn and LSU.

I guess if you want to argue conferences...I guess you could look up bowl game appearances and wins......I know last year we were better than anybody....don't really care to look up anything else.
