Oh and by the way both of these women ran excellent campaigns. Jill, the new Miss Ole Miss, I know her personally and if I would have been allowed to vote I would have voted totally for her because she is so amazing. I think she is someone who Delta Gamma's founders would be impressed with.

First round of Philanthropy parties starts today at Ole Miss! Fun times, no word on quota yet, we should know soon though!
Also, for men's recruitment, it appears that Chi Psi Fraternity is not participating in formal recruitment. I had heard their numbers were low but this seems strange because I know they participated last year with only like 20 members and they got 1 or 2. I guess they are going to do rush on their own after the big stuff is all over!

Not-too-favorable Article about U. of Tennessee NPC Recruitment
The article appeared in the Sept. 28 issue of a Knoxville weekly paper. Yes, sororities' names are used. People with UT connections will probably be talking about it, so I thought you SEC devotees ought to be aware. The author says she's older than the typical PNM, and went through recruitment, I gather, in order to write a story. Yes, she did get a bid, according to the story:

I thought that article was very well-written and gave a realistic account of what rush is like from a PNM's perspective. I'm sort of disappointed that she didn't even consider taking her bid, though...

This makes me ill because she went through the whole process and knew she wasn't going to take a bid!! This sucks on all levels and it makes my heart go out to the AZD chapter who were waiting to see her in their suite. The one thing she didn't seem to take into account was their reaction to her not showing up!

What it sounded like to me:
I'm not going to like this, I don't want to like this, I'm not going to admit I might like this, I'm terrified to like this...

Not to mention the fact that she took a spot that could have been given to someone who actually wanted to join.

I think you're right. She was so concerned with stereotypes and trying NOT to fit in that she didn't even stop to think.... Maybe she could really have enjoyed being an AXiD. I think it was terrible of her to knowingly lie to all of them and then let herself sign a pref card knowing that she wouldn't take the bid. I know she said AXiD was a smaller chapter, but what if they took quota, and had to NOT give a bid to some other girl who would have put her whole heart into being a part of that sisterhood?
I think she does sound like she feels guilty at the end and I think she should.

i think that they could give out more bids than quota because they were under total, so that wouldn't have been an issue.
it was a well written article, but she sounded like she *tried* to get cut from all of the sororities. she mentioned several times that she hadn't brushed her hair for days. i am not saying that she needed to be dressed in the same outfits as everyone else, but please brush your hair!! i am sure that many of the chapters had to cut her because she was a grad student, too.
