I'm having a mini Star Trek marathon. I just watched some of the original series, the Next Generation and now I'm watching Star Trek V. I just think that in the course of several years and various Star Trek series, the writers have had the opportunity to tap into some of the most exciting ideas from all fields of physics. And everyone on GC knows that I just love physics. Well, with Star Trek's writers, it's just that sometimes they get it right, and sometimes they blow it. Sometimes they just use the words that physicists use, and sometimes they incorporate the ideas associated with them. I just felt like posting this because I was watching how the word "neutronium" was used (which is basically a substance composed of neutrons). And neutron stars are naturally made up of this. I've seen episodes where the Enterprise had several close encounters with neutron stars. I was watching the episode "Evolution", the one where the Nanites were eating the ship's computers, the crew was in the act of studying a neutron star that was apparently about to erupt as it accreted material. Oh, and I love the episode "The Tholian Web". That one was really cool. That one was the one where Kirk drifts in and out of this universe. It was a spatial interphase connecting different dimensional planes, which basically make up parallel universes. There were other episodes I watched where aliens were hiding in these parallel universes. It's just that it's never ending. I love Star Trek, it's just that I really wish we really could "Go where no one has gone before".

Nah I'm waiting, myself. Right now there's not a reason for me to switch to a tablet that is essentially a bigger phone and a smaller laptop. I'd like to see what happens in like, 3-4 years with them. If they become more function than fun I'm in.
(Yes they're functional, just not the way my phone or my laptop is.)

The only reason I'm interested in tablets period is because my job is giving away 2 iPads lol
I take my laptop to work daily and carry it around whenever I travel. I need to be connected, but don't want to have to carry it around everywhere. I think a tablet would be easier (and if I get the PlayBook, much smaller).

My phone connects me for all the basic stuff, I can read on my Nook and my laptop is needed for gaming. I just don't have a mid-level need. The Nook just keeps me from hauling books around.
Now if it were FREE.. it'd be different

Glad you bumped this.
Has anyone read the Queen & Country comic book series or prose novels? It was suggested to me and I just wanted to get the comic book people's thoughts.

It's about a British SIS field agent, main character is a woman. It ran from the early 2000s to about 2007, I think. It's all in collections now, but still available (for $13.95 on Amazon). It's based on an older British TV show.
I thought given my fascination with SPIEZ I would like it more than the typical superhero stuff.

Anyone else play D&D? Any experience DMing? I'm running a one shot among friends but I'm still pretty new to the game. I'm using a mini-adventure provided by the Penny Arcade guys so that part's all laid out. It's more of a murder/mystery thing and it's going to be sort of a side-adventure for our characters.
If I'm successful I have an amusing idea of creating a campaign in sort of a satirical-not-quite-twisted Narnia-ish setting. As if they'd entered the world and screwed the story up so they were going to have to 'fix' it.
Thoughts? Experiences? Tips for being the DM?
