I agree that it's gotta be hard from out-of-state. However, I've heard lots of sororities really like these girls a lot because it helps their chapter to be more diverse and to "reach out" further in the future. We are from what would be considered a small town in alabama where most kids go to Auburn. I've heard(may not be true), that they group you in these classifications- small town, bigger Al cities individually, out-of-state etc.--to get to know you better. Can you imagine how huge that "small town" group would be in our state, lol! My daughter only knew a few girls in chapters at bama. We were able to get good recs though trough networking. So, that being said, it can also be difficult even if you're in-state from a small town far away from Tuscaloosa.
Wow, good luck AU moms! Today is finally here!!!!

Cosign!! I know a handful of girls who ventured to Bama (and Auburn) from my area (I'm from Florida). Those who ended up joining chapters have said that this was actually a significant reason for their respective chapters' interests in them. Of course, FL and AL share a border, so I'm not sure how out-of-region PNMs fare, but I would imagine there could be similar reasons for an interest in out-of-staters.
I would also venture to say that perhaps a strong/sparkling out-of-state star PNM could actually stand out more in recruitment and be remembered by the sisters during their selection process after the rounds, as opposed to a middle-of-the-road PNM from a well-represented area in AL.
Also, and I know many have said this before me, but I am THRILLED that Alpha Phi is colonizing at Bama!!! My two loves, the SEC and Alpha Phi, become one. *swoon*

Talked with two of the girls and one of them got all of her Top 3 for preference round and the other one got two of her top 3 and her fourth choice for pref. They have both had an excellent rush and are super excited about today!

The parties are over. All that's left are the chapters getting their Bid Lists in and then Bid matching. I can't tell you how happy I am that the work is over. Now we all wait.
As of 11:40pm there were still 1251 active PNMs. Stats on withdrawals, etc. won't be available for a few weeks. What surprised me the most this year was the number of PNMs who were no shows for Pref parties for various chapters. I don't understand why a PNM would accept an invitation then not show up. Why not just regret/decline?

Does anyone know what time the Bama Girls are getting their bids today? I thought that I heard that it was this morning.

are pnms dropped from formal recruitment for failing to show up at a party? If they fail to show up, can the sorority leave them off the bid list even ifhough they were invited to pref? (Could be a sneaky way to suicide then)

Zillini- I think the reason girls did not regret a pref party was because they did not feel that they were given the option to do that. They were given their list and told that they were to go to those houses. I a PNM dropped way down in her list of 7 from skit round then she may prefer not to return to one of those houses. All that said, it is in extremely poor taste not to show up if you are supposed to be there!

Part of the scenario is that with RFM many campuses will not make a PMN eligible for quota additions if she does not "maximize her options" and attend all the events she is invited to for that round. So if you were invited to three you should attend all three.
I am surprised that girls would be a no-show to pref. I would guess that the panhel would double check with the woman but then consider her a drop.
That is one of the issues I have when folks say Pi Chis/Rho Sigmas should not be pushy and if you want to drop you should drop. Yes and no - I still think that you should finish because you just never know. I know plenty of women who found their home at a place they did not feel 100% sure about. I also know many women who now regret dropping out and felt that they were making a quick decision at a stressful time.

Any news yet? I haven't heard from my friend all week - she's going through as a sophomore and I've been so nervous for her!

Pledge List Posting
Does anyone know if the Alabama Panhellenic Office will post pledge lists as they do at Auburn? If this is their policy, when will these names be made public on the Panhellenic website?
With record numbers of pnms I think many of us are interested in the final results.
