Congratulations bamagphibgirlie!
Edited to add: I know exactly what you mean regarding the girls wanting more traditional (i.e. Old Row) sororties. When I was a junior we had a girl come to the house on Ice Water Tea day and tell us "don't bother introducing me to anyone...I'm from Mobile and will go to an Old Row house". Um, okay - here's the door! And by the way, she eventually was dropped completely from rush and was NOT snapped up.

You cannot believe some of the absurd reasons I heard from pnms choosing houses to go back to(i.e omg i totally love their colors, mascot, sherbert, house, whatever) Also the girls were tradition minded and most were going for the oldest and traditionally southern sororities, whereas gphib is located predominantly in the north and is the youngest of the sororities on campus. So when the eventually and huge cuts were made leaving some girls with only gamma phi and sdt on their lists, they dropped out or stuck it out to prefs and then withdrew with the optimism of getting a snap. I think its all silly, but honestly it those girls loss. I am sooo happy to join a greek community where i have found a home and stuck it out through one of the largest and most competitive recruitments in the country!

That's it for now - if anyone knows anything about ZTA please let me know!

As for Gamma Phi, sadly that's not unusual. They continue to struggle at least in comparison to the other Chapters on campus. But they usually do well with COR. I'd have to check, but I believe that's more than they got last year so it is an improvement.
SDT is pleasantly surprising because they were not officially participating in Formal Recruitment. There were available for informational meetings though, so perhaps through that they were able to pick up 2 women. I'll have look into it. Last semester I heard their total was 12 and I don't know how many seniors may have graduated. So 2 is quite a good start for them for it being the beginning of the school year.

I was just scanning the new member lists - I like to look at the various states in the SEC recruitments. I was surprised to see a girl from Muskegon, MI pledged at AGD. Muskegon is a very small town in northern Michigan - I doubt most girls there would rush at a Michigan school, let alone try to tackle Bama! And I saw Zeta pledged a girl from Thailand!

Just thought I'd post some UF stats I've dug up, thanks to Facebook.
The Official UF Recruitment group (do all schools have these?) started off with 1,030 PNMs, and now at the beginning of second round, there are 999.

There are 885 PNMs registered for Recruitment at Ole Miss. This should be the total number since they have closed registration. On Sept. 24 is "Open House/Ice Water" parties. This is a new round (well new as it hasn't been done in about 10 years at Ole Miss). Then on Oct. 11 Philanthropy Round begins and recuritment ends with Bid Day on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006.
There are nine NPC groups:
AOII, Theta, Pi Phi, Chi Omega, Tri Delta, Kappa, KD, DG, Phi Mu
