Slight correction - the letters on our badge (on our crescent) are Hebrew.

Was there a particular reason for them being Hebrew? (If I'm allowed to ask?)

You are allowed to ask.
I just may not answer.

Good to know! I've been meaning to print a picture of the badge to take in to work to get "translated" but now I won't bother. Not that it would tell me anything anyway...

Bumping for all the PNMs going through recruitment now to see that every sorority has something unique and awesome to offer.

Do a search for the grammar thing, it's more about a choice of pronunciation between Fy and Fee or Xye and Xee. There's some classical vs. anglicized bit to it too. (MC's the one who always explains it well I think.)

This is such a fun idea! I really enjoyed learning about each sorority and remembering interactions I'd had with members of various organizations.
Alpha Chi Omega – I agree that their badge is one of the most beautiful, and I worked with an AXO who made me proud to be Greek.
Alpha Delta Pi – Two of the coolest gals I’ve ever known were ADPis. Two very different girls, two different universities and yet both ADPis. Very cool. I also think the picture of their founders is beautiful.
Alpha Epsilon Phi – I really like that AEPHi was founded on the idea of non-discrimination. I also thought ellebud's recruitment story was a fascinating look at the Greek system.
Alpha Gamma Delta – I can’t think of Alpha Gamma Delta without thinking “Southern” (even though it was founded in New York), and being from the South, I love it! I’m also jealous that AGD is part of a “triad”. That’s so cool.
Alpha Omicron Pi – I the like simplicity that the organization seems to have – one color, one jewel, no crest. Just simple in purpose and goal, “Women Enriched through Lifelong Friendship.” Very admirable.
Alpha Phi – The Alpha Phis on campus were some of the most genuine girls I’ve ever met and I always cheered loudly for their accomplishments. A really great group of girls!
Alpha Sigma Alpha– I think the idea that the founders wanted to form their own sorority rather than separating is a great one, and the connection with Delta Delta Delta is a pretty neat one.
Alpha Sigma Tau – I love that AST’s flower is the yellow rose – it’s a symbol of friendship (and Texas!).
Alpha Xi Delta – The quill as a symbol is very cool. I don’t know what the secret meaning of it is, but I imagine it’s something remarkable. I also think that the Alpha Xi Delta hand sign is really creative.
Chi Omega – I love the skull on the badge – it’s so mysterious! I also really love how well-maintained the national organization is, and I really envy the Chi Omega Shop. They have such cute stuff and it’s so well-organized!
Delta Delta Delta – I knew a Tri Delta from Baylor, and she was one of the sweetest and brilliant young women I knew, and I have much respect for the organization because she is a part of it.
Delta Gamma – I LOVE the nautical theme and the DG wave/salute. It’s unique and very charming.
Delta Phi Epsilon – I really admire that one of DPhiE’s philanthropies is the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, a very worthy cause.
Delta Zeta – I love the rose and green color combination, it’s very peppy and cute!
Gamma Phi Beta – Nearly a decade later I still remember so clearly the Gamma Phi Beta chant that I heard during my recruitment! I also really like how the colors, plus the symbol of the crescent mood evoke such a relaxed and comfy feeling.
Kappa Alpha Theta – I have a soft spot in my heart for Kappa Alpha Theta. Their international organization is incredible, I love the colors, the symbols and philanthropy. Not to mention that I’ve been told that I look like a modern version of Bettie Locke Hamilton. It’s really kind of weird.
Kappa Delta – I love the dagger, and I think that KD has one of the most beautiful open mottos, “Let us strive for that which is honorable, beautiful and highest.” I also like how cute “KD Lady” sounds – very Southern!
Kappa Kappa Gamma – A Kappa from UT was the first person to teach me what it meant to have class and poise. I have a lot of respect for the way that she held herself. Because of her in my mind Kappa Kappa Gamma embodies dignity and class.
Phi Mu – I love the girly quality of the organization. My mother’s favorite color was pink and her favorite flower the pink carnation. After she died, the symbols of Phi Mu have become that much more endeared to me.
Phi Sigma Sigma – The Egyptian theme of the organization is very intriguing, and the American Beauty rose is gorgeous!
Pi Beta Phi – I remember having a very bad time during those awkward middle school years when my dad died. One day on the way to my locker before heading home I passed one of the really popular girls in the hall, she saw what a tough time I was having and spent not only the rest of the day, but the rest of my seventh grade year making sure I was okay. She graduated from high school a year ahead of me and became a Pi Phi. Because of her I have an incredible admiration for the organization.
Sigma Delta Tau – SDTs national philanthropy is very dear to my heart, and the lapis lazuli is such a beautiful and distinctive jewel.
Sigma Kappa – I pledged Sigma Kappa because I really liked the girls I met. But after being initiated and witnessing the beauty of the ceremony and learning all of the secrets, I fell in love with what my sorority really means. I am truly blessed to be a Sigma Kappa.
Sigma Sigma Sigma – I love that Sigma Sigma Sigma and Sigma Kappa have so much in common outwardly. I enjoy that it makes people think that there’s some secret connection (and maybe there is…ooooheeeeooooh).
Theta Phi Alpha – The compass on the TPA pledge pin is remarkable and I love the penguin mascot!
Zeta Tau Alpha – I think the five-point crown is such a great symbol. It evokes such a great feeling of royalty and beauty, not to mention that I love turquoise.

Why am I just now seeing this thread?!?!?! Thanks for the bump Madeline!
I can't go to sleep now without finishing this!
Alpha Chi Omega - I had no idea that A Chi O was also founded at DePauw until relatively recently. I think this is awesome, and I've always loved the Lyre (and Lyrebird!)
Alpha Delta Pi - I have a soft spot for ADPi because they were the "first" of the firsts!
Alpha Epsilon Phi - How can you better their motto? To me, this is what greek life is all about.
Alpha Gamma Delta - This seems kinda silly, but I love how well the AGD colors can be repped with food!
Alpha Omicron Pi - One of my husbands first cousins is an AOII, and she survived cancer while in college. Her sisters were her strength, and I so admire that! I also love how their "crest" is not really one at all, but just a beautiful rose!
Alpha Phi - The lilyofthevalley is my favorite flower! The scent follows me where ever I go when I'm outside my garage (I have a bunch planted around the garage). Their colors are also very classic and beautiful.
Alpha Sigma Alpha - I love the Phoenix symbol, and the ladybug mascot! I also think the story of the Farmville Four is one any greek woman should know.
Alpha Sigma Tau - I think the yellow rose is a beautiful respresentation of their colors!
Alpha Xi Delta - One of the 4 at my alma mater, and the gold and double blue colors always stood out.
Chi Omega - A dear friend from high school went Chi O at OSU, and I was so envious that she got to wear Owl items! I think the wise ol' owl is a great mascot.
Delta Delta Delta - The Tri-Delta philanthropy is a very admirable one (they've raised so much money for St Judes!!!), and we share our flower (the pansy).
Delta Gamma - Well, my baby sister is a Delta G, along with 2 good friends from high school. I love that my sister was so connected to her home right from the start!
Delta Phi Epsilon - "Nothing beats a unicorn." I love this symbol, and their colors are so bold and striking.
Delta Zeta - another of the 4 at my alma mater. There were no other Theta's in my area of study, so several DZ's became my study buddies. A philanthropy near and dear to my heart as well.
Gamma Phi Beta - I became close friends with a GPhiB from Wittenberg during our summer internship with the OhioEPA. Together we were proof that sorority girls like to have dirty jobs (we did stream research). She has so much energy and enthusiasm, that I always associate that with GPhi. The GPhiB badge and crest are also my second favorite. I always think of GPhi when I see the crescent moon!
Kappa Alpha Theta - Do I even need to say?!?!?! I love my sisters. I'll share a cute story: So, I have this same user name on another forum (TripAdvisor). I "met" another user there many years ago (2003), and eventually we became friends beyond the screen names (2005ish). At one point, I brought up being greek in college, and she said "I was greek in college too, what are you?" When I responded that I am a Theta, she said "I knew it. I am too." She pledged Theta at a California school about 8 years before I did. We've never met in person, but she's a wonderful friend and sister. I will also say that I am so very proud of all the famous/notable Theta that are out there. Have you seen Wikipedia? There are so many recognizable names!!! I also love that while we may not have been the first womens society with secrets, but we were the first to be founded with greek letters.
Kappa Delta - I just adore the "KayDee Lady" theme and their Girl Scout philanthropy! I always think of Leanne Tuohy as well, what an amazing woman she is.
Kappa Kappa Gamma - Another TripAdvisor friend ended up being a Kappa, and a Kappa advisor at 2 Indiana schools! She's old enough to be my grandmother, but she's amazing, and I'm lucky to have been able to spend in-person time together. So I always think of awesome things when I see Keys.
Phi Mu - I've always found the quatrefoil mysterious and beautiful! And the fact that they are the second oldest is admirable.
Phi Sigma Sigma - The crest is so mysterious and intriguing! I also think their website is a great one.
Pi Beta Phi - One of my first cousins is a Pi Phi, and she's amazing. I love the arrows and angels, and again, I have great respect for another "first" - the first group to have multiple chapters! I have been to the Settlement School/Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatilinburg, TN, and I think what they did historically in that area is wonderful (Gburg is my favorite vacation spot)!
Sigma Delta Tau - I think the torch badge is very unique, and their philanthropy is a wonderful one!
Sigma Kappa - I just love the SK colors. They're really grown on me since I've been active on GC! And Alzheimers research is so important as a philanthropy.
Sigma Sigma Sigma - I grew up on Lake Erie, and my grandparents had a sailboat, so I love the TriSigma symbol.
Theta Phi Alpha - I had no idea that their HQ is in Ohio, awesome! I admire that they were founded as a Catholic group, but welcome everyone.
Zeta Tau Alpha - Welll, again, the Zeta Queens have a special place in my heart, because I preffed there. I was torn between Theta and Zeta, but I knew if Theta did not extend a bid to me, I would be more than happy to be a Zeta. I had many Zeta friends in college, girls who are still close today.
I'd also like to say how cool I think it is how many orgs have their HQs in Indy, or in Ohio somewhere.

ALPHA XI DELTA– " These things do we earnestly desire: A clear vision of life, that with gracious and kindly hearts we may share both joy and sorrow, and bring into living reality the sisterhood of women, An appreciation of real merit and worth, steadfastness of soul, that without bitterness or defeat we may encounter misfortunes and with humility meet success.
CHI OMEGA– To live constantly above snobbery of word or deed; to place scholarship before social obligations and character before appearances; to be, in the best sense, democratic rather than "exclusive", and loveable rather than "popular"; to work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demands; to be womanly always; to be discouraged never."

ZETA TAU ALPHA – " to think in terms of all mankind and our service in the world; to be steadfast, strong, and clean of heart and mind, remembering that since the thought is father to the deed, only that which we would have manifested in our experience should be entertained in thought; to find satisfaction in being, rather than seeming, thus strengthening in us the higher qualities of the spirit; to prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving,"

Recruitment is quickly approaching, so I thought I'd bump this for all the PNMs out there - and for the rest of us, to remind us of all the great things that each NPC sorority has to offer.
I swear, I'm going to complete this one day...

I'm sure a bunch of people have said this, but this is a really sweet idea!
Alpha Chi Omega- I love their philanthropy, domestic violence are such important issues and I'm glad they're helping.
Alpha Delta Pi- I really like that their new members are Alphas, actives are Deltas and alumnae are Pis.
Alpha Epsilon Phi- Their mascot is the giraffe because it has the largest heart of any animal, I love that. I know some very sweet and friendly women in AEPhi.
Alpha Gamma Delta- I think squirrels are so cute! I also like that that call themselves a fraternity specifically because "soror" is Latin, not Greek.
Alpha Omicron Pi- The ruby is my birthstone and favorite gem. I like that they don't have a coat of arms because it's not a Greek tradition (even though I love my org's coat of arms) and their convention of letting chapters pick their own chapter names.
Alpha Phi- All the women in Alpha Phi I've met have been incredibly smart and total sweethearts. I also love ivy and think it's an awesome symbol.
Alpha Sigma Alpha- The Special Olympics is a really wonderful philanthropy, and I love ladybugs.
Alpha Sigma Tau- When a friend of mine told me he knew a woman who had joined this sorority, he accidentally identified it as a service sorority, oops! But I think that just shows how committed Alpha Sigma Tau is to philanthropy and community service, which is amazing.
Alpha Xi Delta- An astronaut is one of their famous alumnae, how cool is that? I like that their symbol is the quill as well, since I love writing.
Chi Omega- All the women and chapters I've come in contact with seem to really emphasize scholarship, get great grades and take pride in that. I also love their "backwards" chapter-naming convention.
Delta Delta Delta- Their open motto, "Let us steadfastly love one another," is beautiful.
Delta Gamma- I love that so many of their chapters host Anchor Splash. Unfortunately the chapter at my school doesn't (they have Anchor Slam, a basketball tournament), but I've always thought that Anchor Splash really makes DG stand out, and it would be so much fun to participate in!
Delta Phi Epsilon- Purple is one of my favorite colors, and I love that they were founded at a law school.
Delta Zeta- Pink and green are an adorable color combination, and the DZ line Lilly Pulitzer designed is gorgeous.
Gamma Phi Beta- The crescent moon is a beautiful symbol. I just started working with a woman in Gamma Phi Beta and she's sweet- and a quick learner on the job!
Kappa Alpha Theta- One of my APO brothers is also a Theta. Somehow she managed to pledge both in the same semester without going insane with stress, I have a ton of respect for that. Also, Sheryl Crow is a Theta alumna and one of my favorite singers ever, and the kite is an adorable symbol.
Kappa Delta- As a former Girl Scout, I love that the Girl Scouts are one of their philanthropies (and preventing child abuse is a wonderful cause as well).
Kappa Kappa Gamma- Every woman in Kappa I know is so kind and an absolute social butterfly, they could make friends with the dead. I love that literacy is their philanthropy, and the dark and light blue color combo is great.
Phi Mu- My cousin is a Phi Mu and absolutely loves her sisters.
Phi Sigma Sigma- I love that they were the first founded to accept women of all faiths. They have a lot of fantastic chapters up here in the Northeast.
Pi Beta Phi- The first person I met in college who's in a sorority is a Pi Phi, and she is an amazing person and friend. I also love that their philanthropy is literacy, what a great cause.
Sigma Delta Tau- My mom attended Cornell, so I love that Sigma Delta Tau was founded there! I love the torch symbol as well.
Sigma Kappa- Like I said above, I love purple, so I love that one of their colors is lavender and their flower is the violet.
Sigma Sigma Sigma- Again, purple is an awesome color! The skull and crossbones on their badge are so cool, and the motto behind it, "Faithful Unto Death," is awesome.
Theta Phi Alpha- I was raised Catholic, how could I not love a sorority that a Catholic bishop helped found? Also, Theta Phi Alpha and APO both have helmets on their coats of arms.
Zeta Tau Alpha- A couple of wonderful women from my high school joined ZTA and love it. The five-pointed crown is a wonderful symbol.

I've put off doing this for way too long, so I tried to write a fair amount about each organization to make up for it.
Alpha Chi Omega- I love the brand, "Real. Strong. Women.", and the lyre. The badge is gorgeous and so is the symphony.
Alpha Delta Pi- I'm a big fan of Alphie, and of course the Adelphean Society for paving the way for sororities.
Alpha Epsilon Phi- Likely because of my own organization, I have a soft spot for AEPhi and SDT for providing a home for women who might not have been accepted in other sororities due to religious affiliation. I love that the mascot is a giraffe--it makes me feel better about having a "silly" mascot, and I love giraffes. :] Also I like the non-traditional crest, and the website with its scrolling pictures of sisters through the years is so awesome.
Alpha Gamma Delta- I cannot overstate how much I love the squirrel mascot! The vision is beautiful and I'm a big supporter of the philanthropic focus. (When I was younger I always said that if I were a doctor I would be WAY more focused on curing diabetes than cancer... I think because of Stacey from The Babysitter's Club. )
Alpha Omicron Pi- I adore the pictures of the founders in their graduation attire! I think the letters are lovely together and I've always been jealous of how easily they can be typed out while still maintaining their "Greekness". (I mean, you can type out ZTA, but that doesn't scream "sorority!" like AOII does!) I think it's pretty cool that there's only one official color. And of course, the sheaf of wheat and the panda are awesome!
Alpha Phi- I've always really liked these letters together, even if you don't pronounce "phi" correctly. I have a history of heart problems on both sides of my family, so your philanthropic focus hits very close to home, and I love that you have a time set aside to specifically focus on women's issues. All of the badges and pins are beautiful. I love the ivy symbol and the fact that you have an official constellation!
Alpha Sigma Alpha- "Asipre - Seek - Attain" -- lovely! I really like your values, many of which overlap with my own organization's, but I especially like that one of them is "enjoyment". What a wonderful thing to emphasize! I've always thought the phoenix was a beautiful symbol, but I love the uniqueness of the palm tree. Rubies are my birthstone so of course I'm fond of them. :]
Alpha Sigma Tau- The colors match my university's colors! As someone whose philanthropic focus is on homelessness, I love that you support Habitat for Humanity. The motto, vision, and values are excellent! I love the inclusion of "graciousness".
Alpha Xi Delta- When I was first looking into the sororities at my school, I was drawn to AXiD because of the quill and the motto. I like the Choose Children idea. The Rose Petals program is fabulous!
Chi Omega- I love the story of how "Chi Omega" was picked. I think your badge looks great--love the skull and crossbones! The ring is amazing! I wonder if any founders were buried with their rings?
Delta Delta Delta- I'm sure everyone else has mentioned this, but the work you've done with St. Jude's is inspiring. I love Fat Talk Free week. I have always adored your badge. I like your colors. Mari Ann Callais is working with the Tri-Delts now, so you must be a fabulous group of ladies!
Delta Gamma- I'm so jealous of your partnership with Tom's! I love your letters and I love the anchor. I really like the original badge. Bronze is a color I'm really fond of, and I dig that it's one of your official colors. Your handsign is adorable and is probably my favorite second only to ZTA's.
Delta Phi Epsilon- I love pretty much everything about Delta Phi Epsilon. As an atheist, I think the organization's secular founding is such a breath of fresh air. I love your colors, love your motto, love your mascot, love the pearl program. Basically just keep on being fabulous.
Delta Zeta- I really like your letters--I think they sound good together and look great. I love all the stories the local DZ's tell me about touring Headquarters, and the history of absorbing other sororities. We joke about killer turtles.
Gamma Phi Beta- I absolutely adore the colors. Pink and brown are SO fabulous together! I love the symbol and the beautiful badge. The paintings of your founders with descriptions of their personalities is great.
Kappa Alpha Theta- I identify with the colors black and gold, and of course I have some serious Theta-love for this organization. I love the Disney connection--I think any Thetas who show up to Disneyworld in letters should get a ticket discount!
Kappa Delta- I really love the dagger and nautilus shell symbols, and the motto. Your crest is fantastic! I of course love your flower.
Kappa Kappa Gamma- KKG is one of my favorites! I love the colors, sapphire, the key, the fleur de lis, and the focus on literacy.
Phi Mu- This chapter was one of the early sororities on my campus, and we're hoping they'll get the chance to come back in the next few years. I love the quatrefoil, the colors, and your motto. The lions in your coat of arms look so fierce!
Phi Sigma Sigma- Phi Sigma Sigma and Delta Phi Epsilon both claim to be the first non-sectarian sorority. I had thought DPhiE was the only one--awesome! I really like your jewel, symbol, and colors. It seems like a lot of chapters have adopted the penguin as a mascot, hmm...
Pi Beta Phi- I love the focus on literacy and the colors. I really love your badge. I was flipping through a Michigan yearbook from 1912, and it was pretty cool to see that there was a chapter of I.C. Sorosis on campus back when we were Omega Upsilon. I love your crest!
Sigma Delta Tau- I already mentioned under AEPhi why SDT has a special place in my heart. I really like your jewel and your colors, and the way your letters look together. I love the little excerpts about each of your founders. It really brings them to life! I also adore the fact that you have a brother--how neat!
Sigma Kappa- My Greek life advisor is a proud Sigma Kappa and I absolutely adore her. How fortunate you are to have her as a sister! Your pledge pin is my absolute favorite. I'm a big fan of the RESPΣΚT campaign. I love the stylized symbols you use--the hearts and violets look great!
Sigma Sigma Sigma- I love purple, and your badge--the cute little skull and crossbones surrounded by sigmas. I really like the different degrees. I have a very positive impression of Tri-Sigma, and I can't help but attribute that to the wonderful way KSUViolet06 represents your organization on these forums.
Zeta Tau Alpha- I've always envied how easily you can get items in your organization's letters. It's almost like cheating! Your handsign is my favorite, and I suppose it follows that I love the crown--who wouldn't want to be a princess? I also love your colors and your crest. Your website is my favorite by far!
Theta Phi Alpha- I was born in 1912. When I was researching what sorority I wanted to join, everything about Theta Phi called out to me: the crest, the compass, the beautiful colors (blue and silver are my favorite!), the jewels (again--sapphires are my favorite!), the flower (guess my favorite? and my namesake!). I loved the idea that it was a place for women to find sisterhood who were not welcome anywhere else. The letters have a wonderful flow, verbally and visually. The badge is stunning, especially the centennial badge--my only complaint is that it doesn't come in a silver (white gold) version! The creed is the most touching values statement I have ever read from any organization. Homelessness is my cause of choice. I feel like I found my home in Theta Phi the way a member of NPHC might have, by researching and pursuing my ideal organization. I think the only thing I don't like about Theta Phi Alpha is the mascot, but everyone else seems crazy about the penguins, so I guess I can let it slide. Theta Phi Alpha has forever changed me for the better.
