Dang it, Meena's gone, i kinda thought she was cute.
Seriously, Michelle? catch a freakin' clue. If a pledge set up an interview with me and not only didn't show up on time, but didn't call, and THEN show up an hour and 15 min later.....? I'm sorry kid, you ain't never gettin my sig. You'll get initiated without mine.
I hate to pull out the 'D' word, but that's disrespectful, not only to a sorority active, but to a friend, boss, co-worker, etc.
And yes, i did watch SL while flipping back to the baseball game, so i'm not a nancy-boy.

what annoyed the fire out of me was the car situation. first of all, michelle is greedy and stupid. she tells janelle that she will be there at 5:30 for her. janelle needs it for the actives. michelle gets there and janelle is late. not even giving janelle a chance to get there, michelle takes off for shopping?! when janelle finally gets home and the car is gone, she calls val. val calls michelle demanding that the car be returned. michelle gets all clueless, why am i always getting in trouble? why is everyone always finding a reason to get mad at me?'
i want to give michelle a good hard slap. i am really annoyed with just about everyone on the show.

Okay, Val seriously scares me. The dead expressions she gives to the pledges and the cameras are just too much for me. She always gives these looks like she could seriously kill one of the members. My pledge mom was soooo sweet and understanding. We loved her, trusted her and respected her. But our respect was earned because of how wonderful she was to us. If Val was my pledge mom I'd run far, far away and never look back.

If they have to prove their worthiness, then, why did the GLO give them a bid? To me, they already proved their worthiness. I'd hate to have been in Meena's spot when she got depledged because I guess she didn't "prove" herself that she'd be able to handle sorority life amongst all of her other activities. I saw the scene for the next episode and it looks like she is asking them to reverse the decision. There's one girl that's real snarky (but who isn't on these shows, right?) and says, "our decision has been made and there's no turning back what's been done." I was like &!$@# when she said that to Meena. I mean it might be true but the tone was just &!$@#y! UGH! These girls disgust me !
I just want to slap each and every one of them, pledges and actives.

Hey ztawintrhopgirl!
I totally understand where you are coming from, but please remember that we are not privy to exactly what sort of pledge oath that they took. Perhaps the point of THEIR pledge process is to indeed prove their worthiness. And maybe bids in this particular sorority don't mean "I want you to be my sister" but more like "We feel you are ready to begin the journey."
It's all relative, i think....and not necessarily universal.

I personally don't feel like the actives are asking much from the pledges. Maybe it is ok in some people's organization here on greekchat to miss ALL pledging/new member activities but to me that is really unexpectable. It doesn't seem like to me that they are asking the pledges to "prove" themselves. All they are asking is for them to make an honest effort to get to know the other people they are pledging with and also the actives. Meena will be soon on the other side of the country in a couple of months. This is her only time that she has to get to know the people in the sorority. I STILL don't understand why she is pledging. I'm sure she doesn't need friends that badly.
Why is it ok for her to miss all activities but she HAS to go to everything for her other groups? The sorority doesn't have to be No.1 in her life but why does it have to be dead last all the time?

I guess I'm the only one that actually empathizes with Michelle and the car situation....to a point. I can see how, with all the other girls having cars and her not having one, she takes advantage of having the (totally unrealistic in ANY normal situation) Landrover. BUT, after it was brought to her attention that she was taking it too often and being unconcerned about her pledge sisters' needs/wants, she should have been more considerate....
Meena really isn't making the time. I understand the NYU trip, but everything else was a higher priority to her and she really wasn't dedicated to the sorority. She spread herself too thin...
Janelle is not my favorite person...Little too high on herself...Come on down a peg, baby...
I don't like Salina either. A little too fake (what's with the pink headband, Muffin???)...

This is the first time I have watched an entire episode of any of the SLs. Wow.
My thoughts - I wish Val was my BFF, I'm split between feeling sorry for Michelle and wanting to kick her, Should they kick out Meena? I don't know, I hope they give her a second chance.

My 2 cents
I feel I can comment here on my own personal experiences....now I fully understand and accept that this could very well be unique to me so let me preface this by saying that it's not an attack on non-NPC or national orgs--just what I experienced.
I originally was a pledge to a local organization on my campus--who had the same type of expectations as the organizations featured on SL and FL. We were basically made to be the beck and call girls of the actives. We had to 'earn' our way in, and if we did not do exactly what the actives wanted, how they wanted it done we would get in a lot of trouble. This is exactly what I see in SL--especially in SL3.
Did anyone pick up on when Linnese (sp?) called michelle--Michelle seemed very anxious to know what she needed or wanted. I just see a sorority where the actives feel like they're the queens of the world, and the pledges have to kiss their feet to get in.
I also feel that Sorority Life is a big misnomer for this show--all they ever show is rush/pledging. There's so much more to being in a sorority that they don't show--I'm figuring because it won't get ratings or anything.
I just wish that the stereotypical image of 'earning your way in' or 'proving yourself worthy' to get into a GLO would stop showing up on tv. If it weren't for new members all organizations would die out in the end wouldn't they?

I say kick Meena to the curb, if she cared she would have tried by now (The only thing that will be there for her when she graduates will be her sorority not any of the other "Look at me I'm great" stuff she's involved in). Knowing in the next episode she'll be all crying and crap. It will only be because she realized she messed up and was called on it, probably for the first time in her life. If you can't tell I love Meena, she's great.
I also think a serious Come To Jesus Meeting is needed for this group, especially for one Melissa who needs to get her head outta her arse.

zchi2, I totally agree with you. I think the only reason she is pledging is to put it on her resume.
And I'm sure if any of your groups had a pledge who NEVER EVER EVER came to anything and blew stuff off all the time, you'd want her head on a plate too.

The thing is that in some GLO's it isn't a stereotype. To me you better work it if you want to be in my sorority. I don't want someone in it who thinks its just some easy ride. All they have to do is come to our events, be accepted as a pledge and that's it. But no way am I like Val. That chick is a little scary.
