I graduated from high school in the late 90s, right on the beginning of the half-naked wave, but some of these pics on here are just out of hand!!

I had a great time at my prom. I went with a good friend of mine because my boyfriend and I had a falling out. He was there though, with some uuuuggggllllyyy girl , but he looked nice.

My dress was wine colored, like burgundy, sleeveless, long.

Our theme was something like Until we meet again.

I was the prom queen

Tickets were $65/person.

And she has a vague resemblance to Sarah Jessica Parker, IMO.

Ok, this is going from bad to worse. She's a mom, a not so cute celeb (although I think SJP is fab), and a drag queen?

Ok, confused???

As long as it's not her "partner" which is what I thought. Then I thought "mom" because they sort of look alike.

Whew - a golden oldie thread!

Ladies -

I just happened to stumble across this thread and it made me realize something: "I am officially an "old f*rt." (I have now become one of the adults that we used to complain about back in high school!)

While I readily admit that I graduated high-school in 1978 , some of the prom gear on this thread is unbeliveable!

Lawd have mercy!

Well see, I thought it was a dude because the hair looks fake...kinda like a mop/wig.

Re: FLASHBACK to your PROM

Did you go to your prom?
I did NOT go to my High School prom... but my HBCU is having one so I may go to it. I haven't decided yet, even though I told SGA I would buy a ticket just to support the event.

What did you wear? Colors?
But I looked nice on Prom Night because I went to the dinner date with a few of my friends. We ate at Lucky 32's and I had this nice olive/sand color suit with a light brown collarless shirt. I couldn't find the shoes or the hat to match though.

Were you prom king/queen?
No

Did you go with someone special or friend?
I was supposed to meet a special friend so we could hook up for a nice date during the prom but I won't get into all that.

What was your prom theme?
Make It Last Forever

How much did your prom cost? Some proms now have ish prices?
I think individuals were $35 and couples were $50. They weren't that expensive... be we had a large Junior and Senior class.

Re: FLASHBACK to your PROM

You know, I never responded to this thread and I think it's about time that I do, only I will add the Air Force Jr. ROTC Military Balls I attended b/c for me it functioned like a quasi-miliary prom:

Yes, Military Ball '90 & '91 and Sr. Prom.

Military balls I wore my Air Force uniform, only with a white civilian dress shirt and a black bow tie. Senior prom : I wore a black tux with a white tie and cummerbund. My date wore a very tight black dress. Yes, I have pix of all of the above, btw.

Were you prom king/queen?
Didn't have one at my senior prom

Did you go with someone special or friend?
'90 I went with a future Denison University Delta Sigma Theta, though former moderator 411 didn't get to meet her while she was at Denison.

'91 I had no date, but me and this one girl who had a huge crush on me came in 2nd in the dance contest and we kinda hooked up after that for the rest of the evening (I have a videotaped copy of this event, dance contest and all).

Senior prom I went with this Eritrean girl who I volunteered with at Grant Hospital during the previous 2 years. It was TERRIBLE, she couldn't dance worth a darn, to say the least.

What was your prom theme?
Hold On To The Night. Sub theme was Love Takes Time (Mariah Carey). Prom colors were emerald green and black.

How much did your prom cost? Some proms now have ish prices?

Military balls I think was $15 or $20 per person. My senior prom was $25 per person.

Tell me all.
Frankly I liked the military balls MUCH better than my senior prom, plus my date (the future Delta) was FINE and off the hook. I remember we were in the dance contest and that year ('90) we had a live band and vocalist (Flight One) were all that. We lost the dance contest that year and my date was pissed off royally for that. But I had a GREAT time.

My '91 military ball I was rather moody (and it showed in the pix and on the video), so I didn't have as good of a time. But the dance contest (this time we had a DJ), they played two preliminary songs (one fast and one slow), which were "The Humpty Dance" and "Sexual Healing". My partner and I were in the finals, the song of which was "Atomic Dog". Kinda ironic now considering one of my favorite rap songs consists of a hybrid mix of the two aforementioned fast songs (Pistolgrip Pump).

The senior prom I frankly would rather forget about. All I remember was that my date was one of those platonic "I like you as a friend/like my brother" types. All I remember was that at the end of the evening I was tired, frustrated, and horny (she wouldn't even give me a good night kiss to top off the evening). Oh, and we got to the prom in her Cadillac--Cadillac Cimarron, that is, for those who remember. I still have all my prom souvenirs, though, and I will keep those (a wine glass, a napkin with the theme written on it, a program, a "ribbon" with the senior class officers and class theme on it with a few lyrics to "Love Takes Time", and a "Class of '91" button.

I was kinda turned off to proms after that.

Pix will be posted upon request.
