MP - I meant it looks like a cotton sundress at best - not a pref dress. And with all that white? Hmmm...i would look askance at it...

Oh, Titchou, I wasn't supporting/impugning the dress selection only mentioning the daily gyrations of temperature in Oxford in September! In other words it will still be warm on your way to your first party for Pref (or Skit days) but by the time you leave the last party it will be cool. The dress a PNM selects is important to that PNM, and I would not think to impose my personal taste on another.

White is probably not a great choice for fall, neither would a light summer fabric (the girls are fashion conscious). However my daughter wore sleeveless dresses for both skit days and for pref. She said it got really hot in some of the houses with all the crowding. She actually wore a sticky bra one night and because of her sweating, she had a hard time keeping it stuck on. (Just something to keep in mind). We were up there last year for rush and never did I think the temperatures were too chilly. Recruitment is earlier this year so there will be less of a chance of it getting too cold.
A nice Lilly dress is perfect for skit, but no seersucker or linen (too summery). Something silk or other lightweight fabric for pref is perfect.
I think I might be contradicting myself, but hopefully you get the point. Think fall fashion but without the heavy fabrics.

Something also to recall is that Fall in the Mid-South is a lot like Spring, subject to pop-up thundershowers and the reason that all the Houses have tents for PNMs to take refuge under (rain or sun) while they wait for their party to begin.

Is it me or are most of those dresses hella-heinous? Some of those pref dresses look like Edward Scissorhands made them!

The actual Ole Miss women in the photo are wearing more conservative pieces -- no asymmetrical necklines or cutouts. Maybe that's more typical than the fashion-statement type dresses that are pinned?

Why is everything so short? Hope everyone has pencil legs.

Those models have extra-long legs.
That taupe-colored lace on the far left is luscious!

That blue long sleeved number looks like she's going to Hef's mansion but her parents are dropping her off so she needs to be covered up.
In 1973.

You know, I came to this thread seeing the comment about the ugly dresses on Ole Miss's Pinterest and being prepared to defend them as just today's styles, but those are actually downright hideous. Truly ugly and unflattering. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I literally would not be caught in a single one of those dresses where someone might see me, let alone at an event as important as Pref.

I like the lavendar strapless, if you have the body for it.

But they are an improvement over the teal mullet dress: ' I am sooooo sorry, but I just didn't have time to change between the Little Mermaid Skit and Pref!"
