Maybe you need to reread what I said.
I find it IRONIC that people are up in arms over Jamie's rape of Cersei when the relationship is INCESTUOUS in the first damn place!!!!!!
I find their while relationship disturbing and now that he has raped her, even more disturbing. But I never once said that he didn't rape her, don't put words into my mouth. I do know the difference between consensual and nonconsensual.
I have a feeling that if the writers had done what the book called for, which was consensual sex at the site of their dead son's body, that no one would be pitching a fit.

You are correct. I would not be upset about consensual sex. Depicting gratuitous violence against women on a popular television show is not okay.

The larger problem is that they are not going to address it as though it was a rape. The director is on record saying it was not rape. It is not okay to perpetuate the idea that if a woman says no, you can just keep going and eventually she will like it. They showed Jamie rape a woman on camera, and all indicators is that they are going to continue to treat his character as a fundamentally good guy in the process of redemption.

I saw comments online somewhere where one of the people attached to the show says NOW that they created the scene to show Cersei protesting at first but that she gave in to it because she realized how much she missed Jaime. They are also now saying the edit didn't truly show their intentions.
Not buying it...backlash makes people say strange things.

The fluidity of the episodes is starting to annoy. They start each episode off by neatly wrapping up all of the conflict from the previous episode, then introducing additional conflicts one by one which you know you're going to have to wait at least a week to see resolved.

I think Sopranos pioneered this, and it's been the format for dramas ever since.

If HBO ends this series like it ended the Sopranos... hell to pay.

The Mountain and The Viper
Thoughts? So much to say but my thoughts are everywhere! I'll go by what we saw in the snow and. It bring up what's in the books bc frankly, I go crazy sometimes with comparisons.
Arya and The Hound - I'm getting irritated by them dragging out her storyline. Get on with it! Though I must admit her hysterical laughter was unnerving but pretty awesome to watch. After all she's endured, she's so close and yet so far.
Sansa - Finally we start seeing her come into her own and play the game. She covered brilliantly for Petyr though his creepy looks towards her are pervy. Plus, what's up with her wearing that Maleficent dress and giving him a look while coming down the stairs? Weird. God I hope they decide. To to hook those 2 up. Ewwww!
Jon - Boring scenes from the Night's Watch. Hopefully the fight next week makes up for it.
The BIG Fight - OMG! Oberyn! A friend told me she screamed like Ellaria Sand did I'm that last fight scene. Even though I knew it was coming, it still shocked me at how gory and brutal it was.
Tyrion's face at he end was so heartbreaking. Cersei has the perfect resting bitch face.

at least while reading the books, you can skip a couple pages and miss bloody/gory details.
i was catching up on work emails while this episode was on, and *luckily* took a break to let the cat out during the final scene. i still had the tv loud enough to hear it though.

I've been reading a lot of complaints about last night's episode. I frankly don't get why. I enjoyed the battle bc it's a huge part of the story and it helps determine he path Jon will take as well as some other important characters. I won't say who bc I do t want to spoil it for non readers of the book.
What's bugging me is how in the hell are they going to end the show this season? There's still so much waiting to happen unless they wait til next season.
Warning: highlight only if you don't mind spoilers or have read the books.
Will we see Jon become Lord commander of the Night's Watch next week or will they drag that out til next season? I'm betting they wait til next season.
Will Stannis come to the aid of The Night's Watch? I know it happens in the books but for him to do this now would be odd bc there has never been a mention of Stannis or Davos discussing The Wall like there was in the books.
I'm betting the season finale will be Jaime & Varys helping Tyrion escape. Tyrion will then kill Tywin and Shae. I really hope he says the line from the book that popular to contrary belief, Tywin did not shit gold. LOL!
What I want the season finale to be is the Brotherhood without Banners to find the body of Cat Stark and reanimate her so she comes back as Lady Stoneheart. That would be an epic finale!

Thanks for hiding the spoilers! I’m still deciding whether I want to read them or not, but it’s nice to have the choice either way. I have only read the first book in the series, and am current on the TV show.
I do have one question though (non-spoilery as long you watched last night’s episode): Last night, when Maester Aemon talked about being Aemon Targaryen- was that the first time it was revealed on the TV show that he was a Targaryen? It seemed like it was meant to be a “big reveal.” I already knew it, but was that because I read the first book, or have they referred to him as being a Targaryen at any point previously in the TV show?

No, it was said at one point before, I just don't remember exactly when
And I just didn't like that the whole episode was the war at the wall

I have read up to book three. I hate to read too far ahead because I then forget things. I am going to start book 4 and book 5 this summer. A friend recommended reading 4 and 5 at the same time because they cover the same time period just different characters.
I am wondering how they are going to fit all of the things left from book 3 into the finale. I cannot wait for the finale.

FYI
Aemon revealed he was a Targaryen in book 1 and in Season 1, if I recall correctly.
@IndianaSigKap...it me up in a PM, I have some things for you if you are going to read Books 4/5 together (as it should be)...it will make it a whole lot easier for you

I cannot wait for tonight's episode! The first episode was kind of a downer; slow and plodding without much reveal. Then last week's was...wow. That's all I am going to say, in case some of you haven't watched yet. Tonight we should see if the fan theory R+L=J is a possibility. I hope it's not one of those once a season really dull episodes that sets up the rest of the season. Fingers crossed.
