I know that the song is "Sha-la-la", and the heartthrob and his song are Bobby Sherman and "La La La," but I never knew about the female singer and her song--I'm stumped.

Great job, Shellfish! I've gotta post a link to Bobby Sherman's song for those who haven't heard it. The video is too funny!

As for the female singer part...well...uh....OOPS! Those who know me won't be surprised that I goofed. I can be such a ding-a-ling! The song by the female singer is the source for an entirely different Kappa Delta song.
Here is Petula Clark with her 1966 hit "My Love"....

....and the Kappa Delta song is ____________?

I *love* looking at bubblegum and pop stuff from that era on YouTube. I have to confess that I still feel a little bit of that preteen crush when watching the "Easy Come, Easy Go" video.

Cynthia Allen Weston.
I don't have a question but some interesting tidbits:
1. I was perusing the 2000 edition of the alumnae directory recently and noticed that there were living alumnae from Rho Omega Phi and Sigma chapters. These women were initiated in the nineteen-teens, I guess. Amazing! Anyone have the 2005 volume to check if they're still in there?
2. Some KDs that won't make the "Famous KDs" section of the national Web site but might make the pages of People magazine: Alli Sims (Britney Spears's cousin and personal assistant) and Abby McGrew Manning, wife of Eli.

Interesting info, Shellfish.
I have the 2005 edition but won't have access to it for the next two months.
Another KD in the limelight who's not listed is Heidi Collins. She anchors the morning news on CNN. We're from the same chapter. She pledged the year after I did.

Marsha Barbour is another important as well. She's the wife of Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, who's now going to be running the RGA and may very well get a GOP Presidential or VP nod in 2012 or 2016.

Way back on page 3, there was a discussion of the original badge and what the colors looked like. Well, someone tweeted a picture in response to NPC's badge trivia of the day.

6 years after I wrote this, I saw frozen packages of Sister Schubert rolls in the grocery store yesterday. Didn't buy them but nice to know they have finally made their way to Southern CA.

Very cool! She was great on Breaking Bad. I didn't know she was on the Michael J. Fox show. I'll have to watch it.
Thanks for posting.

The PBS series American Experience has a new episode about Freedom Summer that features a short segment, and apparently some film clips, on a little-known KD, Malva Heffner. She and her husband were ostracized and eventually driven from their town in Mississippi for having met one of the volunteers through their pastor.
I've recorded it but haven't seen it, but here's the transcript:

Great. Now I realize that I don't know enough Greek and that I am flower-ignorant.
ETA: Here's a link to a picture of a Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria, which is the closest thing I can find to a "white kaiserin rose":

What a wonderful old thread, so much great historical information!
if any of you KDs out there are gardeners, Roses Unlimited has the Kaiserin Augusta Viktoria Rose mentioned above available. I purchased two plants from them and have them potted up. I am looking forward to seeing the first blooms on these original KD roses! I believe the website said they were hardy in zones 2 through 8, just a little tender of early spring frosts in the northern edge of their range. That means a lot of us could probably grow them.
