Thanks!
Thank you so much for the information. I was just wondering if each school posted the results like Auburn did. My daughter just went throught rush at Auburn and she had a wonderful experience. I'm very proud to say that she is now the third Phi Mu in our family...my sister and myself being the other two!
Best of luck to all girls going through rush this year! I know it can be stressful, but if you allow yourselves to be open minded you will find a home, as well as life-long friends!

I just peeked at the two girls from our HS who went through at Auburn, and the friend of my older daughter is a new ZTA, and the friend of my younger daughter is......drumroll, please......a new Kappa Kappa Gamma!
(My girls are class of 2005 and 2007, so this is the year between them)

Congratulations to all the NPC women!! (especially those new Alphas! )
I hope that AZD has a successful COB, too!
I have a question (since this is so different from my experience). Are these the number of women/PNM's who actually accepted the bids? Are there a large number who don't accept bids b/c they didn't get the one they really wanted?

I've observed GreekChat for several months now. What an incredible source for information and ideas. My daughter is a new freshman at the University of Alabama going through rush. GreekChat likely has a few fathers watching or actively posting, so I thought it was about time to join the conversation. My daughter received recommendations for 14 of 15 UA sororities from fantastic alumnae. She looks like everyone else pictured in the UA sorority websites, great grades, etc., but unfortunately lacks legacy status. She is considering all sororities to see with whom she clicks best. I think I'm as nervous as my daughter, if that is possible. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and a prayer on my lips.

welcome bamadad!! we actually had a very dedicated father who kept us updated on his daughters recruitment at fsu(she had a successful rush and pledged alpha chi)-it is neat to hear a father's perspective.
please tell your daughter not to worry too much about her lack of legacy status. some chapters have so many legacies they could limit extending bids only to legacies and still not be able to pledge them all, filling their slots to quota before all the legacies received bids. that is one reason that legacies might only have a slight advantage-if at all--over non-legacies. a legacy still has to have grades, personality, present herself well, activities and honors and the chapter needs to feel that she would fit in and be able to contribute to the chapter.

First of all - I loved hearing about Auburn recruitment and all of the successes and stories and I love UGA recruitment and FSU and UCF recruitment but
ROLLLLL TIDE
(I know I am a side walk fan but a big fan none the less I love going to the house on game days and I love hearing about recruitment at BAMA)
Bama DAD and Southern Yankee Keep us updated on how the recruitment goes - I hope your beautiful daughters have a wonderful time and stay cool and dry.

Hi there BamaDad! Best of luck to your daughter during rush week at Alabama. I think lack of legacy status is sometimes beneficial as it helps to let the girl choose where she fits rather than following family members. My daughter just finished rush at Auburn and I told her from the beginning to follow her heart and choose the sorority that was the best fit for her. My advice to you this week is to be supportive through the nerves, tears and laughter....there will be plenty of it all! Good Luck to your daughter and to you as well!

BamaDad, it's always good to see a father concerned about his daughter's Recruitment! Let's face it - she'll always be Daddy's Little Girl! I sincerely hope that she gets the bid of her choice.
Keep us updated, okay?
(and if you're Joe Namath, I'm dying! I'm really dying!)

To all of you who welcomed me with your kind words, thank you very much. And to southernyankee, my best wishes to your daughter too. From what I've gathered, rush is going quite well. My daughter said they had tornado warnings briefly in Tuscaloosa along with an incredible rain storm. A lot of soaked but happy young ladies. And honeychile, I'm not Joe Namath (unfortunately). Just another Washington, DC lawyer among a zillion others. Now Joe Namath - that is somebody! Not enough can be said for all the wonderful alumnae out there who assisted my daughter and others with recs. Many took the time to meet with her at Starbucks for personal interviews, then kindly offered to introduce her to alumnae from other sororities. If we could not find a local alum, national headquarteres folks were exceptionally gracious in finding connections for which we are truly grateful. One alum interviewed my daughter, then asked to speak to my wife about the pending departure of our little girl to a distant university many miles away. If this is typical behaviour among sororities, then I can expect nothing but the best for my daughter if she is fortunate enough to receive a bid. I will keep you posted - please let me know if there are any things I cannot mention during the process. Thanks!

Yayyay! I know at least 2 girls rushing at Shorter College next month! The sororities there are Phi Mu, Zeta, and the local, Ep Sig. I talked to both and highly recommended that they choose a national--those of you who remember my threads on the locals there and what all went on with them will remember that the then 2 locals hazed horribly and last year, someone got a picture of the remaining one doing it again. The dean (a KD) marched around the freshman convocation with the picture and announced, "THIS is hazing. If someone tries it, tell us." I hope they will.
Anyway--I still don't know where the PNM at UGa went and the PNM at Ga Tech is rushing as I write this! Her choices will be: AXO, ADPi, AGD, AZD, Phi Mu, and Zeta. Her mom is a a member of one of those.

I served dinner last night to my daughter's house with a few of the local area moms at our North Avenue Trade School, and the girls were very tired! They had so many going through that they added an extra party.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that your hometown girl finds her new home!
