exactly, you put yourself into the public spotlight on a show where you know what you're getting into, you are a public figure. And when you're no longer a member of a group and are wearing their letters, you should know people will have a problem with it.
Sorry, no sympathy for people who go on any reality show, especially Real World.

I think they've given up casting for conflict and changed it to casting for maximim hookup potential. As someone pointed out, it's turned into Elimidate instead of the Real World.

LOL. but for real, what happened to the REAL people...like from the first seasons. people with real problems and didn't all look like actors and models.

They also had REAL jobs in the early years-- not the contrived "here-- you're going to direct your own documentary" or "here-- you're going to work for a radio station" type thing.
There was also one roommate on one of the earlier programs who was going to med school.
It's more interesting when you get people of different backgrounds-- like Julie -- whose Mormon faith was put to the test..
The show really went down hill with the Las Vegas cast. It seems they are only looking for people who are heavy drinkers and partyiers. That bores me. I just am not interested anymore.

I think the reason they started giving them jobs was they had people who did nothing but lay around the house all day. Heck, if I had free room & board I would probably do the same thing. Then again, in the first two seasons, most of them actually lived in NYC and LA respectively and already had lives. It is a lot to ask for someone to go out and get a job (an interesting one, please) in a town they know nothing about.
I agree w/ you on Las Vegas - but the sad thing is that the creators referred to it as their "dream cast."

The first few seasons of RW were GREAT!!! The people seemed much more mature than the cast members do today... And they're all around the same age that they were then!
I loved that they delt with real issues back then.... People who had never been close to people of different races or sexual orientations, dealing with AIDS, etc. Yeah, there were still alot of stupid fights and arguements, but they all seemed to just be a little bit more mature about it all.
I absolutely hate that all they do now is drink and have sex... I don't watch the show anymore because I can go out and see that anytime. I don't remember ever seeing the San Francisco or Las Angeles casts out at the bars... I'm sure it happened and may have been shown, but I think it says something about the quality of the show back then that it is not what you remember from the season.
When I think back to seasons like Las Vegas, San Diego, and Hawaii, the main thing I remember is them being out at the bars trashed. It's disappointing.
Does anyone else worry about the message this is sending to the teenagers who watch this show today?
