Its basically a swelling of the joints due to consumption of too much meat (organ meat like liver and fish).

Gout

Who know, my body may just not like Atkins.

I fell off the Atkins wagon over the weekend. I had been going out drinking like 4 times a week for the past few weeks and wasn't making any progress, and then we went out for a company lunch on Friday and I just said "F it" and cheated. I started back up today though (and I even went to the gym!), and I'm going to try to stay off the bottle for a month. We'll see...

LIL Hannah, that was my downfall as well. When I started back up the last time, my husband birthday came around, and of course I wanted something to drink. Atkins has a list of alcoholic beverages that has little or no carbs, but they are only allowed only after you come off the induction. I am going to start back up on tomorrow, and for Valentine's Day, I am going to opt for one of those beverages. I know it will slow my process down for three days, but what the hey.

Where are all my weight lost partners???

I'm in my 3rd week of SouthBeach and have done pretty well. Still drinking a boat load of water. No major cravings, but when I do want something sweet I just eat a sugar free jello. I've started back introducing bread--the multigrain kind--slowly, don't want to sabatog things for me. I am getting tired of salads, which is what I have almost every day for lunch, although I did find a no sugar added Ranch dressing that is pretty good. I did cheat on Sunday though. I had pizza. The first 2 slices I just ate the toppings, but the last one I ate it crust and all!!

Several coworkers have asked me if I was losing weight and all I could do was

Now if I would only exercise on a consistent basis I would be o.k..... By the time I get home at night (usually about 10 or 11) I don't feel like doing anything!

I'm still here with you Eclipse. After last weekend's slip up I've been doing fine. I just weighed myself and I've lost 3 lbs. since last Monday. Not too spectacular, but I definitely feel better about myself even if I'm not really losing. I've got my "skinny jeans" that I'm going to use to gauge my loss, because a lot of times with Atkins you'll lose inches before pounds. I stayed strong during the Super Bowl and ate celery instead of chips, although I did have a few gin and diet tonics. Guess that's better than beer though.

Thumbs up

I did Atkins for three days over the summer and I felt like crap! I couldn't get out of bed I had it bad. I guess I am too addicted to carbs and sugar. I'm taking my doctors advice and following the food pyramid and excercising everyday for 30 minutes!

This is my 4th week on South Beach and I've lost a total of 11 lbs! I actually think it is more than that, but that's the point I started counting! Last week was a bad week for me...I never thought I would say this, but I did not eat enough! I skipped breakfast most days and because of my busy training schedule I did not eat lunch a lot of days. As a result my weight loss stalled last week. I tried to do better this week and lost 2 lbs. I'm in Phase 2 of SB now, so I'm eating apples and whole grain breads again.

I was at TJMAxx the other day and could not resist this cute linen outfit that is a size too small. I guess now I really have to work it out so I can get into it by summer!!

Exercise continues to be a challenge for me, although I did go for a long walk today. It amazes me how good I feel AFTER I exercise, but how UNMOTIVED I am before I exercise! LOL

I have designated the 15th of every month my splurge day and I am soooooo looking forward to it. I can't wait until Sunday!! Pancakes and syrup for breakfast, pizza or pasta for lunch and fried fish and mac and cheese for dinner!! LOL I'm not going to do all of that, but it sure is tempting.

I know exactly what you're taking about. It seems like such a hassle to go to the gym, but once I'm there I'm like "yeah!" I've been good about going, but I've only been twice this week. I might go tonight, but probably not.

I weighed myself yesterday and I've lost 8 lbs, and my boss told me he could tell I've lost weight, so that's good. I stopped by the mall today while I was out running around for work (is that bad?) and I saw the cutest pink and green Lilly Pulitzer bikini, and I think that's going to be my goal. Look cute in the Lilly! My roommate's mom sent little packages to all of us with Valentine's candy in it, and this Reese's is staring me down. I'm holding out though...I'll give them to one of my friends tonight.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I do Pilates five times a week and every time, right as class is starting, I wonder why I put myself through that kind of torture. Today, as I was driving to the gym, I seriously ran down all of the reasons why I should just turn around and go back home. But, after I'm done, I feel so proud of myself and happy that I made it all the way through. Funny how a little exercise can make you feel like you're on top of the world.

And, I was contemplating going to the gym and hopping on the treadmill for a while, but the rain snatched that idea right away.

South Beach

I purchased the Southbeach diet book this weekend, just to check it out. I wanted to know did you lose belly fat first. I read that this will be the area that you lose first.

I'm here! Well, here is my update:

After my bout with Atkins, I enrolled in Curves three weeks agoand began their weight loss program this week. I really like the workouts - it fits right into my schedule which was something that is very important to me.

They have two weight loss plans (you take a few test to see which on is the best for you and your lifestyle). One of the plans in low-carb and the other is low calories (or something like that). I am on the low-carb plan, but unlike Atkins, veggies and fruit are still never restricted, only certain types are.

So far, so good.

I decided that I am not going into my 30's (on Dec. 25th) with this extra weight.

How did your spiritual fast go? I'm sure that made you change some of your eating habits?

That was very successful, but I didn't lose any weight! I need to really get consistent with my work outs. It boils down to that right there.
