Thats from Yahoo News in the UK and Ireland - they are the most gossip consuming people I have ever encountered. When I was in Ireland last year I swear gossip and tabloid magazines are more popular than anything. i wouldn't be surprised if this is an embellished story.

Trent Lott is an idiot. If he makes more comments like he did the Democrats will have a better chance in 2004.

It's funny how it's getting blown out of proportion though... Trent Lott's actually from all accounts that I have a really decent man. He's an active Alumnus of Sigma Nu. I don't think that he thought before opening his mouth about the historical implications of what the Dixiecrat party stood for in 1948 when he was probably younger than 10.

Maybe so but the very first people to condem him and ask him to step down as leader of the Senate were Republicans. The Democrats were criticized for not calling on him to step down quick enough.

I don't think you can ask someone to step down because they said ONE dumb thing or two I guess.. It's recently come to light that he made a similar comment in 1980 at a Reagan Presedential convention when he was speaking with Thurmond (who researches these things!?).

Just saw on the news even the House leader asked him to step down so he doesn't damage the party. The Republicans are worried but I don't know why after they did so well.

It's because their majority is VERY slim. They're really trying to reach out to minorities. Being a bunch of white guys this becomes problematic. Especially with a faux pas like that. It's almost a calculated effort to gain positive perception within minority communities.

Ship full of missiles bound from North Korea to Yemen? Sound a little suspicious maybe? Actually being the world police is exactly what the world expects. The US is at the beckon call of the UN to try to solve the world's problems when people of that region can't deal with things for themselves.
It's really an act in your own best interest to intercept weapons shipments going to countries that believe in a jihad against all westerners.. but that's just my take on things

Jihad means something different. Jihad is a personal struggle to find Allah. If you kill someone you screw it up. That is according to Muslems I know. I think Bush would have a been a fascist in an earlier time, but maybe allowing missles from North Korea, who recently said they have nuclear capablities wasn't the best idea. But if they didn't let them through, could you imagine the backlash?

Ask someone in "Islamic Jihad" and I think they'll give you a slightly different interpretation.
