closures

Vermont has seen several colleges close in recent years. The largest among them probably was Green Mountain College in Poultney. Closures bring unwanted difficulty to the students, faculty and staff as well as to the local community.

Greek system closures

In Vermont, we've had 2 colleges abolish their Greek systems. the most recent being Middlebury College with their Kappa Delt Rho chapter being told to close.
In the 1960s, Norwich University closed down their Greek chapters. The Un. of Vermont still has a Greek system though it has changed a great deal from the mid 1960s.

May I ask your source and the reason for this closing? Other sites and their social media show a thriving chapter.

I'm not sure of Shadokat's source, but I saw Delta Zeta's press release about it.

I noticed that Delta Delta Delta is not listed at Colorado State University. Per "another" chat site, the chapter was closed and will "recolonize" in four years. Tri-Delt was last listed in the Spring 2022 grade report.

The University of Dayton is open to additional expansions EXCEPT NPC. Expansion packet deadline was 4/15.

The University of Dayton FSL Community is currently seeking candidates for expansion in the Interfraternity Council (NIC and other inter/national men's fraternities), Multicultural Greek Council (NALFO, NMGC, NAPA), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).

My organization presented last year and was invited to colonize. We will colonize during 2023-24.

Why are NPC groups not allowed?

I don't know why but I do know a NPC sorority recently closed due to low membership.

OK, good to know. I am not familiar with this campus at all. It just sounded strange. Kind of like, "We want sororities...but not those sororities."

I doubt it's anything nefarious. It's not that NPCs are "not allowed", it's probably that the university simply wants to expand opportunities in the other categories.

Quincy University
Quincy, IL
September
Campus Total=40
****************
Theta Phi Alpha Psi 1954-1960
Phi Sigma Sigma Iota Beta 1998 (21)
Alpha Omicron Pi Epsilon Sigma 1999

I am not sure Phi Sig is active and welcomed 21 pledges. Phi Sig is not mentioned in the article below dated 8/14/2022. Phi Sig is not listed on the QU greek life website too.

"The university is adding a new men’s fraternity called Iota Phi Theta. Iota Phi Theta is a member of the Pan-Hellenic Council, which is composed of historically African-American fraternities and sororities. Delta Tau Delta is the other fraternity on campus.

Sigma Phi Eta is being added as a new women’s sorority. Alpha Omicron Pi is the other sorority on campus."

Well, that's interesting. There is a newspaper mention of Phi Sigma Sigma getting a new on-campus house in January 2022. (https://qumedia.net/2022/02/25/a-new...new-beginings/)

However, the chapter no longer appears on the Quincy University Greek Life page (goes to 404 not found) nor does the chapter appear on the national PSS website.
