I loved Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.

Anywho, the semester I went out for recruitment, there was a girl who was torn between Theta Phi and XYZ. She *really* loved Theta Phi because "the letters are soooo pretty," but she wanted to go XYZ so that when she sat with them at lunch, she could be envied by everyone else in the room. She went XYZ and depledged a week later.

When I went though recruitment, I was intrigued by KKG and Tri-Delta. I think it was something about the multiple letters, like it meant something really special and interesting. I was totally clueless about greek life before college and I guess I thought some sororities had chosen their letters randomly?? At the time, I hadn't heard of any other repeat-letter sororities.

So half the curiousity has been satisfied, although it's not the reason *why* I pledged Kappa. I am still a little bit more interested in what Tri-Delta stands for than any other sorority. Silly but true!

Hahahaha...had I been in that chapter, I probably would have been a shoe-in for that part. Every once in a while I get told that I slightly resemble Veruca Salt - and, at that age, I *did*. Even as recently as a few months ago, a colleague googled a picture of her and taped it to my inbox outside my cubicle.

If they decide to take a picture of it, I'd love to see it!

Fear of the perfectly groomed eyebrow isn't a good reason?

Well, I COB'd but I did try formal recruitment and came up with some of the stupidest reasons for why I didn't care for one group or loved another. I had fun remembering how incredibly stupid my reasoning was back then.

Delta Zeta - I absolutely LOVED them because they had the prettiest house at Long Beach, their jewel is the diamond and I thought I deserved to wear diamonds b/c IMO (back then), diamonds were teh ONLY jewelry worth wearing, and they have the Roman Lamp as an emblem. To make it worse, the DZ's wore these adorable shirts fashioned with cute sparkly "diamonds" to make one big diamond and I had to have one of those shirts!

Alpha Phi - I didn't care for them because their house was yellow and not as big as the DZ house and on Day 1, they wore these yellow shirts. I hate yellow. I was incredibly stupid as well!

Delta Delta Delta - I loved their colors, the trident, and I loved the recruitment shirts they wore.

Sigma Kappa - Very edgy and different. Their house was the smallest in size but I do look good in lavender and maroon. For some stupid reason, I used to think that sorority girls ALWAYS wore their sorority colors in their outfits.

Gamma Phi Beta - Some girls I knew (who were the IT girls) swore up and down that this was THE sorority to be in so I believed them.

Delta Gamma - I knew right away I could never be a DG b/c they seemed to have many of their activities revolve around water and I hated the way I looked in a bathing suit so I knew I could never be one.

Alpha Omicron Pi - Big house and they had a red rose. How could I not want to live in a big house and have red roses around me everyday? Duh!

I knew it! I had heard rumors about this being ritual but now it's somewhat confirmed!

Anyone think that some sororities at their school had mandatory tanning hours? I'm so pale!

Some of my sisters used to joke about that, but I'd never go for it. I just turn into a lobster, and white skin is better than red skin.
