Girlfriends ~ Cancelled?

The cast of Half and Half must be slipping mickies into the drinks of the cast of Girlfriends. 'Cause I swear while Half and Half is getting better (I love "Big Dee" and MC Lyte's characters), Girlfriends is getting worse.

Joan opening up a restaurant...that kinda just came out the blue. Almost like they were struggling to think of something to do with her character. And Tony is pregnant by a short, White man who is in debt and has walked out on her. The heyell?!

Tonite was one of the better episodes I've seen in a while. Was this the first time they showed Joan's mom before? I can't remember. Also, who plays her father? Is he white or black?

Her dad is black. I don't remember his name. If I am not mistaken, he was Debbie Allen's ex husband on "In The House". On the Girlfriends Episode Joan had ran into him on the nudist beach. She was upset cause he was in town and hadn't called her.

Good memory that is him! He was also a cop on Hill Street Blues back in the day.

This was the first time we saw the mom. Now I see why. Lawd have mercy that she got with William.

Tonight was actually a decent ep except the subplot with Lynn and those drums.

Yup he sure was....his name is Michal Warren, and he was also on Soul Food and Byron, the bad dude that Lem was messing with when Jim Brown was going to kick his butt.

Ok, I'm kind of upset that I fell a sleep last night at 8:05 and missed this show...yesterday was an exhausting day at work, and I was dead tired when I got home. Now I did tape everything on UPN last night because I felt myself getting sleepy about 7:30ish, so I am looking forward to seeing Girlfriends because this show has really gone downhill.

Did Joan fall out last night from embarassment or is she sick?
She needs to let the WILLSTER get rid of some of that tension and frustration she seems to have from worrying about the restaurant.

This show reminds me of Sex and the City. Out of all the ladies on Girlfriends, the one who seems to have the most insecurities despite her success, fortune, and body , is the leader of the group (Joan), just like Carrie on Sex and the City.

Carrie (who is EXTREMELY SEXY by the way) is the "unoffficial" leader who gives advice to all the other ladies, but has trouble following that same advice and seeing the obvious when it comes to BIG. BIG has treated her worst than any of the guys the other girls have dated or "screwed" in Samantha's case. This is just like the crap Joan had to put up with when she dated the actor.

Great analogy about Joan and Carrie. I can see the parallels, as another die-hard SATC fan who also enjoys Girlfriends.

Is it just me or is anyone else tired of Toni calling Jabari out of his name? If Maya is her "girlfriend", shouldn't she know Maya's son's name? BTW, isn't he like 13...she should know his name by now.

I was tired of it after the second time. I could see if his name was Jamal and she consistently called him Jamil. But Monday she called him Jabooboo -- very insulting to me.
