Most lawyers hated law school. It is NOT fun. There were a few fun days, that involved beer, margaritas, guest lectures. There were more days spent ruining my eyes studying minute details about cases that were skimmed over in 30 seconds.

Thanks! I am so excited for the inevitable hell and debt the next 3 years will bring! All of the current law students I know are such an inspiration. Hahaha.

Regardless, I'm glad I waited a few years and decided to take some time to try out another career. I know I'm going into this for the right reasons. I start submitting my apps this fall!

And be prepared for your vision to deteriorate EVERY year while you're in school. And you'll either get fat or anorexically thin.

Yeah, I've been here for about 2 weeks, and I drive home from the library every night blurry-eyed.

OMG that will change! Law students drink A LOT. I think you're still in the adjustment phase....you'll be drinking a lot in a few months.

I think every law student has a duty to tell pre-law students: do NOT go to law school unless you are absolutely sure you will commit to it.

I concur with the above posters that you will drink/smoke more than usual. Thank God I don't drink (even casually now) but with the smoking, I went to a pack a day (more than double before LS). Then during the break, I went to a pack every 4 days.

As for alcohol, I remember during orientation they kept talking about how prevalent acoholism and depression in the law profession, and kept giving us #s to some help services.

Oh, and GOOD luck to all the incoming 1Ls!!!

My fiance LOVES law school so far. LOVES it. It will be interesting to see how long this love for the law lasts. I'm already tired of hearing about civil procedure.

Good tips, all...

Sooo.... you know, I just never had an opportunity to join Phi Alpha Delta when I was in college.... but I really admire their ideals and values. Do you think I could AI? I mean, I've looked at lots of other law fraternities, but I just really, truly admire everything they stand for... I don't know a single P.A.D. in real life, but I'm 100% convinced it is the right place for me!!!!

(I'm being sarcastic, in case you couldn't tell.)

On a serious note, what were some of the best activities you were involved with in law school, or opportunities you took advantage of (or wish you had!)?

Thanks What do older students do to keep from blowing their brains out around 22 year olds?

It's official -- I survived the first week! But I don't know how.

Did anybody here that is or was in law school use the Glannon books? This girl was reading one yesterday before class and I'm all like, "what's that?" She showed it to me, and then the girl next to me was like, "Oh, mine came in today!!!!!" I feel so out-of-the-loop.

What about hornbooks, etc.? I think it's been mentioned on here not buy them, but I couldn't remember...
