Question-has anyone else been hearing about how companies are pulling out thier advertising spots during the show? I read about it recently and I'm worried about this!
|
i read something about that, something along the lines of they were concerned about the storylines on the show being too racy.
ok, i just searched and found this article about it.

Little to worry about. Five advertisers pull out, but there will be 15 willing to replace them. Meanwhile, ABC is loving it -- even more people will tune in to see what the fuss is about.
Sheesh, if Fox can get advertisers for half of it's shows, DH has noting to worry about.

I think it just means we'll see a lot less wholesome family ads and more "Viagra"-like ads. Oh well.

So, it turns out that Perfect PTA Mom Maisy Gibbons (Sharon Lawrence) turns tricks when her kids are at school. And one of her johns is Rex, who is into some S&M stuff that he's scared to ask KimberBree to try. Maisy suggests that he be honest with KimberBree, but he never gets a chance: he has a heart attack while Maisy's working him over. This, of course, means that KimberBree finds out Rex has been stepping out on her, but she waits until he gets out of surgery to tell him that she's getting the most vindictive divorce lawyer she can find and she's going to take him for everything he's got. She rules. In other stories, Lynette has issues with how competent Claire the Nanny is -- like, what do you WANT, Lynette? Either you have a great nanny and get back to good mental health and maybe go back to work part-time, or you don't have a nanny and you go out of your mind. Make your choice. Carlos is still in jail, and asks Gabrielle to burn some incriminating documents for him and to bring him his passport so he can get out of the joint. Instead, a suspicious Gabrielle keeps the papers and burns the passport. She's beginning to suspect that, like Britney Spears, Carlos is not that innocent. Susan finds out that Julie's been harboring Zack, and orders Zack back to his father's house. Paul then proceeds as normal -- in other words, he acts all squirrelly and potentially abusive, but mostly just creepy. Julie reads Susan the riot act for acting more like a child than a parent, in a scene that's remarkably thoughtful for this show. And, finally, Edie begins to wonder what happened to Mrs. Kravitz and calls in the cops. Also: y'all know that James Denton doesn't really do it for me, but he was really charming in this episode.
|
Mrs. Kravitz=Mrs. Huber. I don't know why TWoP calls her that.
The other thing that didn't get mentioned in this recap was that Plummer Mike takes Zach back to his house and give Zach his cell phone number. Mike says to Zach to call him any time things get bad.
Now knowing Mike's past and potential motive, I stuck that scene in the back of my mind. I'm sure it will pop up later.

Because Mrs. Huber was an excessively nosey neighbor, just like archetypal nosey neighbor of TV history, Gladys Kravitz in "Bewitched."

that is correct! and from the FAQ over at twop:
Quote:
Question:
What's with this "Mrs. Kravitz" thing? The character's name is Mrs. Huber.
Answer:
When Jessica was a kid, she watched a lot of Bewitched, a show about a witch married to a mortal man -- perhaps you've heard of it? Anyway, said witch -- Samantha -- lived next door to the nosiest woman in the world, named Mrs. Kravitz. Mrs. Kravitz was always spying on poor Samantha and seeing all kinds of things she oughtn't, and then telling people about them. No one ever believed her. Mrs. Huber is clearly the archetypal Nosy Neighbor Lady you're polite to, even though you know she's watching you and judging.

if anyone missed an episode here or there, they are now re-running them from the pilot onwards, presumably until it's "start up time" again in the new year.

I'm glad the show is back with new episodes. My thoughts:
I'd like to see a quadrangle with Mike/Susan/Edie/Carl
Edie singing "I've Never Been to Me" was hilarious!!
I continue to love Bree and hate her son. What a brat that kid is. I kinda want Bree and Rex to get back together.
I'll always think of Lynette's husband as gay Matt from "Melrose Place", so I find it hard to imagine him lusting after the nanny.

I <3 Bree! She is my new favorite character. I was screaming at the TV when she sat her new beau down on the couch with Rex. But she has some of the best lines in the show.
I missed Gardener Boi this week though. Though Gabby's story kind of took a backseat this week.
And UGH! Paul freaks me out. He's also a dumbass. I mean, let's dig a shallow grave for our murder vic and then proceed to dig her up again, even worse than before.
Where the heck is Zack?

Personally, I was screaming at the TV when Paul took that jewelry to Mike's house!! I just KNOW that will come up later and I really don't want them to screw with his and Susan's relationship!
just my two cents!
