The worst part is I can't quite put my finger on what it is about him that I either like or do not like.

I can guess that part of it has to do with the "We can do ANYTHING!"

Someone else heard your Reading Rainbow reference to Jindal. You made the joke first.

OMG Mr. Rogers describes it so much better than LeVar Burton.

But is it a harder slam? I mean, LeVar is a serious actor on top of schooling those children.

Two things:
1. I <3 Mr. Rogers. Always have, always will. I'll ride the Mr. Rogers' neighborhood ride at Idlewild time and time again.
2. Is anyone else stunned by the fact that LeVar Burton is 52? He looks like he's still 30!

My initial reaction to Jindal's response was if that's the best the GOP is going to have to put up in 4 years, Obama's definitely getting a 2nd term.

I finally got around to watch Jindal's response. Wow, can you say major fail with a capital F? Sounds like he was teaching 2nd Graders.

I actually thought that he ws a great public speaker and a debater. What happen? Did Palin's camp decided to become his handler.

I think you hit the nail on the head with that. He sounded like he was talking to small children and just generally came across as the biggest tool ever.

Was I the only person who felt like Jindal was supposed to be the GOPs version of Obama?
The way he looks
The body language he used
The structure of his speech
The style of his speech
The content of his speech

Im willing to bet MC Stee-Lo was behind this one. I dont understand the new GOP leadership's idea that taking what is successful for others and immitating it will make the GOP successful. Epic Fail!

At many points while watching Jindal emulate Obama I realized that his attempt at Obama's educated northerner crossed with southern preacher/activist speech style is why he sounded like a Pre-K teacher. Then many of his comments seemed to me like him saying "We need to do what President Obama says we need to do, but do it our way puh-leeze!" The whole thing appeared...just desperate.

It was like an SNL skit.

But some of Obama's speeches are like SNL skits to me.

Perhaps they were trying to give the people what they seem to want. Or maybe they were poking fun.

The delivery wasn't great, but what he said, I more-less agree with.

Then again, I'm a member of Jindal's party. I'm guessing you're not.

Bear in mind that what Obama and Jindal said was written by speech writers and tested on focus groups. It was anything but contemporaneous and it was anything but meaningful. These sorts of speeches serve one purpose only -- to win public support. These speeches are really a sideshow though, not really important at all.

Yeah. It was like a SNL skit without the humor.

Im not a member of his party. Nor am I a member of President Obama's party. I agree more with our president's party right now though. I was disappointed with Jindal's speech because there were not many clear, stark differences like those that used to exist. Jindal and the GOP seemed to be trying to emulate Obama more so than trying to give serious objective conservative solutions to the crisis we're in. Any good content that may have existed in Jindal's speech was so thoroughly diluted by his imitation that it was probably missed by many people and it was a waste.
