Zeta Mu has 4 COB ladies now. We already intiated our fall class in the middle of October. Yay for us!

Does anyone know the recruitment info for the Delta Kappa chapter this year? I was just curious, they usually do well.

Question COB ideas!

I NEED SOME IDEAS!!!!! I NEED SOME IDEAS!!!!!

Hi my name is Ana and I am MRC of the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Phi Sig at Virginia Commonwealth University. I found this page while searching for new chants and songs. Anyway we are the smallest sorority on our campus having 15 women where the other sororities are at total at 50. We didn't have a very good turn out at Formal Recruitment this fall (campus wide) only having 38 women accept a bid to any of the 5 sororities. Through this we bid matched with 2 great women who are now initiated. However no one we had one woman who did not accept her COB bid and 3 that have accepted but are waiting until next semester. Obviously we have a lot of work to do with recruitment next semester. I was wondering if any of you have any creative ideas for COB events to maybe improve our chances of bid matching next semester.

My chapter is in the same boat as you. We didnt get many ladies to come out for formal recruitment this year so nobody got very many people. We got 4. But we have COB and got 3 girls who we are about to initate (I love being able to have 2 classes per semester). Best suggestion is to hand out flyers in any main part of the school where alot of people hang out. Invite them to your calendar events, that is what we did and we got 3 ladies and didnt expect to. Good luck though! I want to be MRC next year.

first, what are you already doing for COB?

second, I agree with Nikki, invite them to your regular events - no need usually to have specific recruitment events.

If you're doing a service project that's really fun or a fundraiser, even a sisterhood, just go ahead and invite the women on your wish list or just any PNM...

Thank you for your replies. I really appreciate any and all ideas you all have! This is what we have planned for next semester....

1. We are putting together a Panhellenic Forum on Real Sorority Life vs. MTVs Sorority Life. I will be leading the forum beginning with clips of MTVs Sorority Life showing some of there worst moments. Then a representitive from the other four organizations to speak on sisterhood/social, philanthropy, scholarship, & panhellenic relations.

2. "Let Me Entertain You"- The sisters will be putting on a little talent show and the potentials will be the judges judging on creativity, style, and overall entertainment.

3. Basketball games-basically for PR but we will have flyers listing the dates we are going if anyone wants to join us and we will all wear letters and we are making a banner.

4. More philanthropy based events. Such as running crafts at the Adult Care Center or making candy bags and such.

5. Karaoke Night

6. Sorority Dinner- No one in college can turn away free food! The recruitment committee is going to prepare dinner for the sisters and potentials and we are going to have a sit down dinner followed by social time.

7. Field Day- with numerous events such as dizzy bat & balloon toss.

That is the just of what we have so far other than of course movie nights and that type of thing but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated it as I am running for a second term as MRC and would like some new things to do!

we started out this semester with 12 members, and now we have 31!!! so it can be done, we only got 4 girls threw recruitment, and the rest threw cob's , the week after recruitment we had a different event every night almost. we hand out flyers, and brought girls that were in our classes out. and we just kept it up for a few weeks after, and now all of the new members are already bringing potentials down!!
some of the things we did were-
-movie nights( some girlie movie)
-we went to a sisters house and did the mary kay stuff( satin hands and just played with all her make-up)
-we all went out to eat

we also handing out flyers, we have letter days and badge days so everywhere you went on campus you would see our letters,
it takes tome but as long as you want it bad enough i know you can do it

Zeta Omicron has formal recruitment this week...

Tuesday and Wednesday, Round Robins
Thursday, Pref Night

ZO would need 35 girls to hit total since they have only 5 members so just having a successful recruitment is their main goal.

Delta Epsilon had club days last week and got about 10 interested women signed up for our email updates.

Tonight there was an info party and one pnm showed up. She seemed pretty interested. Tomorrow we have another and next week two more.
I think we need 7 to be at total, we are at 23 right now.

It's so weird being in a chapter so big - when I was active there was usually between 4 and 10 members!

ZO got 2 new members. The sisters are disappointed because they knew these girls would join all along. There is no COB allowed this semester so the numbers will still be low. At least no one is graduating until next year, so hopefully fall informal recruitment will treat them well.
